....Anyone born in the UK in the 60's from an immigrant backround will empathise immediately with this thouroughly enjoyable read....I could not put it down.... --Closeup Magazine

A Fabulous Read....I Thoroughly enjoyed reading this book which brought back memories of my own childhood growing up in London. Young Cypriots and anyone from an Imigrant background should be encouraged to read this book where they can get a taste of what it was like growing up in such a cosmopolitan city like London....... but, with parents who still lived in the dark ages of a small village! Great characters, good story line.....hilarious and addictive... --Greek City-Parikiaki News --Greek City-Parikiaki

I couldn't put this book down. So many memories of my own upbringing in North London (Edmonton), I laughed aloud on the train to and from work. Very well written. Characters are so true to form in all our mad Cypriot families. This will hit home to many Greek Cypriot girles born in London in the 60s, many familiar names, just brilliant. This will be read by many friends, might even let my Mum read it.This may inspire me to finally put pen to paper and write about my Mums story, truly touching.

I came across Adrianne's book by chance after doing some research for my own book about my Greek family.

After getting about halfway through I started noticing one too many similarities to my own family, in particular the villages that Adrianne's parents and my in-laws come from. Sure enough it turns out that we are related...It's a small world in Cyprus!

The book itself was a wonderfully refreshing, honest, down to earth read and brought up so many memories. Humorous, tragic, open and uncompromising, Adrianne's story will have you laughing out loud one minute and on the brink of tears the next. A must read.

This unique story deals with issues that everyone would find familiar and universal. Adrianne Roy's 'Do you know who I am?' is a marvel of uninhibited writing about difficult truths to face and dilemmas we all have in the course of our lives, and while the book is dealing with the joys and sadnesses of rerooting in a new world (from Cyprus to U.K) it could have never been more timely than now where so many take the risk to obtain a better life abroad. Brilliantly comedic and yet deeply touching, it gives such an honest picture of what it must have been like to feel the cultural shock but it also reminds us determination and sheer courage can get us through almost anything in life. Let's hope there will be a sequel (and a film?).

This is one of my most treasured books I have on my shelf at home, signed personally by Adrianne! I loved it from start to finish and couldn't put it down, I was chuckling, laughing and nodding my head all the way through it! Just like me if you are of greek cypriot origin you will be able to relate to this and will want to read it time and time again. It brought back memories of my parents who thought and spoke in the same way to me and my sisters as we were growing up in the 60's and living in Haringey, London, this book captures it all. This is one book I love promoting and will not lend. All I can say is get youself a copy, you won't regret it. Happy reading guys!

A fabulous read! Thoroughly enjoyed reading this 'easy to read' book, brought back memories of my childhood and brought home to me how hard life was for the previous generation. The book was hysterical at times yet at other times deeply emotional. I felt the laughter and the pain. I was so engrossed in the book that I recommended it to my whole family to read, including my fifteen year old daughter. She does not read books that often but with this book she could not put the book down and finished it in three days! It would make an absolutely marvellous film. I could not recommend this book highly enough for someone to read, enjoy and go on a roller coaster of emotions, just like I did.

A great debut by Adrianne Roy. It gives an accurate insight into what it's like growing up with Cypriot parents living in London. The book is filled with facts about Cyprus history which makes it all the more fascinating to read and covers what it's like being brought up by two cultures.
It explores a spectrum of emotions - happiness, sadness and everything else in between.
A thoroughly good read.

Having finished reading "Do You Know Who I Am" in just one sitting - there was no way I was going to put it down after having read the first couple of pages... I have to say it was such a pleasure to be taken on a journey through the eyes of a child from the very beginning; from life in Cyprus through growing up in the UK. The book is wonderfully written and the story brought out so many ranges of emotions, from laughing out loud many times to being moved to tears quite literally and when the story ended I just felt I wanted it to go on. Adrianne Roy perfectly described the complex relationship dynamics of the family and I felt I understood exactly what had motivated the main character. I found myself rooting for her and passionately wishing for her to succeed. I so hope we are blessed with another treat of a read very soon.
