The DMR V8 pedal is built around the classic flat pedal body. It runs on precision ground loose ball bearings and is serviceable using the provided grease syringe. Corner pins can be tuned for preferred grip (terror pins available separately). Also available with a 1/2 (BMX) axle.

Changed to these from spds to ride technical terrain safer and they are great. They weigh about the same as my m520 spd pedals and have a reassuring amount of grip from the studs. Some of the studs are fixed and some are replaceable, those that are might come loose and I found my set a few were loose out of the box so check and tighten them before you ride.
V8s are not lubed in the factory so you get a small syringe of grease that is adequate for both pedals with instructions on the syringe. The correct allen key is provided if you don't have a set. No spanner is provided. They will take more grease and for a smoother feel it's worth putting more in. I could feel a little bit of grinding before I did this. I found the syringe good for only one run before it broke and ended up getting a cheap grease gun and Teflon based grease from a large orange department store chain.
The product comes in a nice box and you get a DMR sticker to put where you choose.
The grease should be changed yearly for ideal operation, but will probably last longer and the pedals can be stripped down for service.
Gladly I had a week of work before I could use these, but had I wanted to ride on them the day I got them I would have been miffed so 4 stars for lack of grease, but 5 stars for a quality pedal. Hopefully the review will allow you to prepare and get out and ride. You don't need any special skills to do anything I've pointed out, just a good set of tools or a friend with a good set of tools.
ADDENDUM: I got a 2.5ml syringe from the pharmacy and inserted the red straw that comes with 3 in 1 oil into the end and cut it off at about 25mm, filled it with lithium grease and "et viola"......the perfect grease applicator!
You will have to try very hard to make your feet slip off these, use them while wearing shorts at your peril though, they've got a bite like an angry rottweiler.
You MUST buy a tube of Grease with these.
the syring that comes with it has grease inside - dont use that, fill it with your new grease and each pedal takes about 2-3 syringes full.
