But of course I'll say more! First off, I was a beta reader for Laura, whom I met at a writing course, and this is her debut novel, Djinn. Kyra is a girl on the run with her father. Who they're running from, she doesn't know. So when the pursuers finally catch up and kidnap Kyra, she learns that everything is not as it seems. Her world is about to change big time, because she's a genie, and not everyone is happy about her return. But with her mysterious and dreamy trainer, Will, Kyra will have to find a way to adjust to her new life, because no one is coming to save her.

I love Kyra's strength as a main character. Her life is by no means easy, even after she discovers she's a genie with super powers. This is a fast paced, easy read, with equal parts action, romance and world building. There is a strong cast of supporting characters, each with their own flaws and secrets, and a very strong/lusty love plot.

Fans of Amanda Hocking's Switched series will find Djinn an interesting Young Adult Paranormal Romance along the same lines, that doesn't exactly follow a mainstream path of including vampires, angels, faeries and so on. And that in itself is refreshing for this genre. Djinn is also the first book in a series, and because of this there will be plenty of unanswered questions lingering in your mind, long after you put the book down.

Djinn is a story of mystery and intrigue, it's a story of adapting and changing, and of finding love. There is much left to learn and quite frankly, I need to read Blooders now!

Djinn was a great read! I really enjoyed how the book started off. Laura kept the book at a nice fast paced read and it was very interesting. Not everything was revealed to the reader and we learned things at about the same time the main character did, which was nice because then there was still mystery and a need to keep reading.

The book was really well written. I loved that there was a prologue at the beginning that helps you understand some things further down into the story because it clears a lot of confusion up. I also found that the story was very original. Laura was able to make you believe one thing and then turn the whole story around.

I really loved the way the characters were written. They weren't too revealed, which left some good mystery in there, and it was fun to see all of the different reactions certain characters had when things were revealed. I also liked that we got a basic run-down on the character's appearances from the main character's point of view without too much description.

I found that the storyline was really well planned out. Every piece fit together perfectly which made for a well structured story which I really enjoyed. I liked how the book ended, and I'm super excited to read the next book in the series, as well as the novellas that will go with them. I have to give this book 5 out of 5 stars. You wrote a fantastic book, Laura!

Usually take a couple of weeks to complete a book, but finished this in just a few days as I was totally gripped.

For a first novel this is extremely well written and I look forward to the sequel in this series.
