Kenneth More and John Mills. 'Nuff said. The former as Bader and the latter as the 'Sea Tiger' sub commander make a splendid pair illustrative of great British cinema, direct, informative and entertaining. The activity aboard the sub in 'We Dive at Dawn', with much operating of levers and passing of instructions from captain to crew, is something of an education.
The atmosphere of these films is enhanced by (crisp) black and white, not diminished. A product of their times (late 40s, early 50s) they evince a no-fuss Britishness which was not as mythical as some modernists would have us believe. Well worth a place in one's library.
