Well as her debut novel I had set my sights low (sad as that may seem). Unfortunately there is so much competition in this field it seems like there is more and more of the same tired types of chick lit out there. Having said that, the main reason I read this type of genre is the sheer escapism element. The whole point of reading this type of book is to lose yourself in the unrealistic and hope for a happy outcome.

As soon as you start reading this it becomes clear very soon that the characters are most definitely rich and spoilt. Lola is the spoilt `princess' daughter who is given everything and does not a thing all day every day apart from spend her fathers money. You have Evie who is the mistress, put up in the smartest flat with lots of credit cards in tap, and finally the wife Carin, who is all about the money and wants anybody connected to money she could have, out of the picture.

The characters are fantastic because they are all so catty and hell bent on getting their own way. Although Lola and Evie are both greedy in their own way as well as being spoilt as the book progresses you begin to like them more and more as they realise the pitfalls of their own situations. Carin the wife was an absolute bi*ch and a character that you will love to hate. She truly is an awful woman. In addition to the women there are a whole host of male characters that appear in the book and their roles dramatically change over the course of the story.

The story itself was well thought out and most definitely further over the line for the unrealistic nature than I would normally go for, but somehow it worked incredibly well. There were quite a lot of twists and plot surprises along the way which made for an interesting read too.

I enjoyed this book immensely and if you liked riders or Jackie Collins grab a copy now!

Lola Fitzgerald has everything, pin up boyfriend, tabloid celebrity lifestyle and a pin-up boyfriend, that is until her trust fund is frozen and the locks have been changed, her boyfriend is in the papers for all the wrong reasons and the people she once thought of as friends are busy stabbing her in the back and making money out of her misfortune. Lola has to learn to stand on her own two feet and find out some real lessons about life.

Evie on the other hand, the other lead female is street wise and used to having to do unspeakable things to squeak by, that was until she met a sugar Daddy who met her every desire, sadly he is now ill and she too is out on the street. Whilst she is well explored she seems to become a more minor character in the end but expect to see her burlesque act on tour in a follow up.

The characters are spot on, the dialogue well observed and the action relentless. Towards the end I found I was greedily devouring the book to see how it would all turn out as the characters find themselves in ever more disastrous scenarios. A perfect read for holidays or for some wonderful escapism, a solid debut.

I could not put this book down especially in the middle, one night i came home from work.. started to read a few pages and by the time I had put it down it was 3am! Such a page turner. Its quite sad really but i ended up reading the whole book in four days!! that's how hard it was to put down. The ending was very predictable but after all the twists and turns through the book I enjoyed the simple ending. This is a great read.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I can't say how excited I was when I found out that one of my favorite authors was finally turning her hand to my favorite escapist genre - the bonkbuster - under the pseudonym Rebecca Chance. And I must say I'm not disappointed: this novel has it all - glam locations, beautiful (anti)heroines, a sexy, brooding love interest, loads of sex, shopping, backstabbing and bitching. I won't go into the story (you'll have to read it for yourself), save to say I loved how Lola grew (slightly) more human over the course of the events. And I LOVED Jean Maurice and David!! The only thing that was wrong with this book was, in my opinion, that Evie's side of the story slowly fizzled out. i would have liked to have gotten to know her better - the burlesque act was inspired and Lawrence is a great character, but I would've loved to know Evie more and to really watch her grow, like Lola. Hence the 4 stars instead of 5. But I'll definitely be buying the sequel - and so should you!

The book is interesting and enjoyable if its a relaxing fun read you require. It is a little unrealistic and I couldnt always wipe that from my consciousness, but if you have nothing but time on your hands, relaxing on a beach or if you want something not too taxing on the brain, then it does its job.

The central character of Lola did become likeable, as did Evie, though I wished there was a little more about her life included in the novel. I couldnt relate to the character of Jean-Marc who was insipid and rather silly.

If you like reading about the rich and famous then its a good read. I did want to finish it, so it held my attention but I probably wont remember any details of this in a months time.
