Richard Grady may be an average entrepreneur but he's a darn good writer! His previous book, "One Day Ahead" kept me enthralled and amused by its tale of successes and disasters. This latest book, "Distinctly Average Entrepreneur" succeeds in doing even better. Richard tells how he grew up with an entrepreneurial mother, listing her escapades as well as his own childhood attempts to become rich, followed by years when he worked in banks and tried to make money "on the side". Then redundancy forced him to improve upon those "moonlight" jobs with amazing results - he did actually become rich enough to afford cars and houses that most people can only dream about.

Now, businesses tend to rise and fall in ten year cycles and Richard's were no exception. However, he understood the concept of "multiple streams of income" so they never failed simultaneously and he always had at least enough money to live on. Readers will laugh and groan at the descriptions but this book is also a learning experience. You'll gain an understanding of what is involved in making money and how to minimise problems and risk. This is not simply an entertaining read - it's an instruction manual for life.

I bought this after reading One Day Ahead because I liked the author's style and sense of humour.

This brings you more of th st but with added serious information. Reading this will not make you a successful entrepreneur but it will give you some valuable information to help. It will also make you smile and laugh.

Kudos to Richard's mum and Dave for allowing us to see some of the trial and error that they encountered.

After reading Richard's book One Day Ahead I was on the lookout for anything else he'd written - I found his style and dry wit engaging. Distinctly Average Enterpeneur is wriiten with the same style and wit but is on a totally different topic - in fact it's quite hard to define. Part autobigraphy, part marketing handbook, part motivational - mmmmmm....... you'll have to read it and decide for yourself. But it's an entertaining read no matter how you come at it. Some of Richard's childhood experiences at the hands of his entrepenurial mother had me reading between my fingers and squirming with embarrasement but laughing out loud as well. I also found some of his business related stories struck a chord and gave me a bit of inspiration on upping my own efforts to quit the day job and live on my wits (and the sideline businesses I run). Once my own transition from employee to DAE has completed, I'll be able to turn my own experiences into a book too!
