The prose is steamy and witty. The characters are charming, independent, and loyal. And the story is an uplifting tale about life, love, familial pressure, friendship, saucy banter, perseverance, community, happiness, sizzling romance, delicious food, and good whiskey.
The Distiller's Darling is an engaging, heartwarming novel with a sweet storyline, amusing characters, and an idyllic setting that highlights that sometimes all you need for the happy ever after you never thought you were looking for is one more night.
The storyline kept me glued to this book from the very first page until the end.
Iain and Naomi were perfect for each other, even though sometimes I was screaming at my kindle for them to cop on.
The book had it all, from romance, to angst and steamy scenes.
I highly recommend this book, you definitely won’t be disappointed!
I received an advance readers copy and volunteered a review.
But when their fling starts to turn more serious can they make it through?
I loved the first book in the River Hill series and this one did not let me down.

I LOVED the book, and I think you'll love it too
The thing I loved the most reading this story was I could really picture in my mind every expression of Iain Brennan's face when Naomi took him off guard, leaving him speechless. In my mind Iain is the guy I saw before the release of the book on the socials. That grin… I fell in love with it and I was intrigued by his mischievous eyes, a promise of lots of wicked things, but also playfulness and Iain is just like that: irresistible, fun and hot.
Naomi is really his match.
We had already met her in the previous book, she was Noah's fake girlfriend, or his friend with benefits, to put their respective mothers to silence, until the arrival of Angelica in Noah’s life.
Naomi is a gifted artist who is trying to highlight her work and her talent. She cares a lot about her independence, she fights for it, she doesn’t want to get married, but above all she doesn’t want to be "just" someone's wife or use her parents' connections to succeed. She prefers one-night stands with unwanted complications.
Gorgeous, sexy, funny, Naomi seems to be always one step ahead of Iain, anticipating his moves, after they met by chance during a gala.
Sparks fly between them at first sight.
Iain is Irish, his family is one of the most important and known in the world of whiskey production, but his dream is to launch a new, more innovative product, carving out a space for him and his sister.
The family tradition and the strong personality of Iain’s father are a burden for him, he always struggles in search of his father’s approval in his project.
The chemistry between Iain and Naomi is explosive, they can’t keep their hands off from each other, their way of being so straightforward makes everything very simple and easy between them, allowing their perfect agreement: three months of great sex and then… no harm no foul. Too bad they don’t see how perfect they are for each other, and all the things they actually have in common, which makes their bond unique and special.
Naomi maybe is the one with more issues, always trying to run from Iain. Sometimes her need to prove she’s not like her mother, leads her to exceed, hiding things she feels instinctively for Iain, making him hurt.
I loved Iain very much, he’s hot, smart and fun, and I really liked his bond with his sister Maeve, and his desire to give her "voice" within the family, to fight for a chance to make come true Maeve's dream, to open and manage their distillery.
River Hill is an amazing series: the stories are well written, easy to read and smooth, with a fun vibe.I like the characters, their friendship and innate sensuality and I’m curious to find out what the next book holds.
While I enjoy historical romance, there's something to be said for a modern woman who knows what she wants. Naomi is probably my new favorite heroine.
The subplot involving Iain's new whiskey brand was compelling, despite my lack of knowledge in the beverage industry. The resolution there was a fun surprise, and I'm happy to know certain characters will be sticking around River Hill.
