Manufacturer's Description

My family loved the original Epic Mickey on the Wii. It was one of those rare games that was pitched perfectly as family fun. Even though it was only single player we had hours of entertainment shouting at the screen ('paint that!', 'watch out for that bad guy') as one of us controlled Mickey Mouse and the others offered encouragement. The level of difficulty was right too, aimed at challenging casual gamers without being so simple as to be boring.

This new sequel follows much of the original's ideas but adds a second player - and you really do need a second player, the A.I. controlled single player assistant is rubbish. Having two players is fine but the game suffers from being much more difficult than it's predecessor. Both players have to be adept at the actions required so, "mum, give me a hand with this one" won't cut it. That would be quite acceptable if it were being played by a couple of fourteen year old boys, but are they really the ones who a game featuring Mickey Mouse is aimed at? Young children and non-gamer adults will give up in frustration.

We had weeks of fun with the original Epic Mickey. Epic Mickey 2 is back in its box after just a couple of nights.

I quite like this game! It's designed as a 2 player game and I strongly agree that it's best to have 2 players. The computerised second player is useless.

I'm a young adult and my sister is a teen, and we have both found it a challenge to complete. I'm not sure if that's because we haven't played the first game or because we're terrible gamers! We've gotten stuck quite a few times so far and rely on walkthroughs to help us out.

I wouldn't recommend this is you get easily frustrated with games, especially when you get stuck on a particular level. Despite this, the storyline is enjoyable and I like the characters that have been introduced so far. It's a fun game and I think it would be OK for kids, but possibly a frustration for those who aren't avid gamers!

Arrived quickly and bought for christmas hence delay in reviewing item - my 13 year old daughter loved it but still has trouble getting mickey to "jump" and its not alway clear what to do on the next level - strange because she has loads of games she plays and has no trouble which is surprising for a U rated game.

I purchased this game for my Grandson and he has hardly stopped playing it since opening it on Christmas Day...
The first phone call I got on Christmas Day was from Zebodee to say 'Thank you Grand Ma for the game, I like all my presents but I LOVE Epic Mickey'

Great product, good price, satisfied child, what more could I ask for?

Follow ups are always a gamble but my son seems to love this as much as he did the first one. If he gets as much entertainment out of it then it will be worth every penny.

Disappointed to find out after purchasing and opening that this is a two-player game. After my daughter enjoyed the first Epic Mickey I bought this for my daughter who recently moved away and is only likely to play it when she is home, with someone else there to play along.

Takes lots of memory on the wii needed an sd card and then you need 2 nunchucks for 2player. But if you try to play it and then find out you need another nunchuck it won't let you back to the game you have to turn it off and on

The game returns Mickey Mouse and Oswald the Lucky Rabbit to Wasteland, an alternate world filled with 80 years of forgotten Disney characters and theme park attractions.

Ultimately, there is a feeling here of missed opportunity. Junction Point Studios tried hard to revolutionize the wheel, but Disney Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two leaves you wishing the developer had refined the mechanics of the original before embarking on its more intrepid endeavors. The game still delivers on the charm and occasionally hits some truly inspired highs, but fundamental issues hold it back from ever getting within sight of its goals.

If you’re a Disney fan, there’s still much joy to be gleaned out of Epic Mickey 2, but those expecting anything outside of its nostalgic heart should, sadly, look elsewhere.
