Here we have a case of it being like Spike Milligan said "the pictures are better on the radio". I sure that anybody who's read Terry Pratchett's wonderful first two discworld novels has mental pictures of what the characters look like, so while this is a worthwhile effort to transtale these two wonderfully funny books into graphic novels, to paraphrase Spike the pictures in books are better.

An excellent adaptation of the original book even if it does miss out a lot of the hilariously dreadful puns. The artwork is perfect and with a little surprise for those with sharp eyes. I had always thought it was one of those modern myths that illustrators attempt to slip an anatomically correct female drawing passed the editors. One blink and you could miss it. Its on page.... no that would be too easy. Consider it like an adult version of where's Wally?

I found it to be a good book, containing a fast version of the two novels, and in general the graphics were fine, similar to other graphic novels I have already seen. I suppose I was assuming in my anticipation, that the drawings would have been done by the very talented Josh Kirby, whos book covers are excellent. His versions of the Discworld characters are so flamboyant and colourful, you would never dream of criticizing his style or skill. Shame that Steven Ross's figures are not as good. His buildings and scenery, and especially the trolls, are all very good and praiseworthy, but I feel his people drawings lack skill to an extent - Rincewind is a bit feeble, and the women are just not quite good enough. If I could have seen sample pages on the Amazon sales page, would I still have bought the book? Probably yes, as it does belong in a TP collection. Thus I give it 3 out of 5.

I've loved the work of Terry Pratchett since I first picked up one of his books many years ago. This adaptation continues to bring us the loved works of a great man in a new medium.
Brilliantly condensed to fit into a graphic novel without losing any of the main plot story (you can't fit everything in)

Incredibly disappointing edition of the very nice stories. I have purchased this version of the books after reading the most amazingly created The Illustrated Wee Free Men, which was one of the finest reading experiences of my life. This one unfortunately turned out to be incredibly dull and boring, even for a person who read the stories in proper books first to be able to keep track of the pictures in this one.

Boring, uninspiring, unimaginative imagery, dull layout and garbled story - all in all a very disappointing purchase. It looks very much like a fanmade tribute by an amateur artist, not much as a professional work.

Three stars for the story as the representation is to be rated approximately at -7 stars, but please buy the proper books to read instead.

Nicely drawn. I never realised that four eyed Twoflower was actually a spectacle wearer (so sue me). These two books need to be read in sequence but the first one was such a scattergun satire on a broad swathe of fantasy authors that it needs to be read rather than absorbed via the drawings excellent though they are. The second was a more conventional narrative and the drawings do just fine!

I thought it was Trymon, though, not Galder Weatherwax who was the central UU protagonist at the climax (spoilers, spoilers!!).

PS Bethan is HOT! Cohen is brilliant!

After reading these ages ago in softbook i remember saying to myself god i wish these where in hardback , low and behold they did it, the story is just amazing as always from terry and the artists did a cracking job when they first released it and now its just as good if not better today, well worth it.

And anyway, it's very lightly adapted- not adapted enough to make it enjoyable or dramatic, but some of the artwork is amazing. Although Paul Kidby rules all the way, BIG time (in my humble opinion), I would definately recommend this to anyone who hasn't read the books, then they can read the actual books and find out what Scott Rockwell has cut out of the story.
