This CD has some very impressive tracks - and the use of quotes from the book read by Tony Robinson and Stephen Briggs are very effective in creating a Discworld-like atmosphere full of "Narrativium", (see The Science of Discworld). Greenslade's obvious talent shines throughout and the vocals by Tim Whitnall, (from CITV's "Mike and Angelo", and CBBC's "Telletubbies"), are combined in my favourite track - "A Wizards Staff Has A Knob on The End". Just under an hours worth of music makes this CD a must for all Discworld fans.
When is the next CD going to be out?

Not just a fun collection of music and lyrics but a humourous well crafted collection of tracks to enjoy. If you are a Greenslade fan then this is Dave Greenslade at his humourous best as in sunkissed you're not etc. The narration and lyrics add to the mood settings of Greenslade's keyboards. Best thing to do is buy this CD, sit down quietly (with or without a book) put the headphones on and drift through the multiverse of melodies. You'll not be able to stop your feet tapping to the Wizards staff song - or get it out of your head - headology of the worst kind! Enjoy it, I do.

There's something for everyone here - instrumental and vocal pieces which invoke all sorts of emotions. The opening track 'A-Tuin the Turtle' fires the imagination and makes you almost see A-tuin and the Discworld slowly moving through space. I played this in the car and have got my teenaged daughters hooked ... as well as my husband, who wasn't a Discworld fan at all! Be prepared to keep singing bits of 'A Wizards Staff' and to have 'The Streets of Ankh Morpork'(the unwary traveller) and the tune of the 'Stick and Bucket Dance' with you for a long time afterwards.

As a fan of Dave G and Terry P this album seems an obvious choice.
'A wizards staff has a knob on the end' and 'Stick and bucket dance' are highlights and suitably silly. The rest is pleasant without being remarkable.
I use this album as background when working and it is great for that, or as company when driving, but I doubt I will ever sit down and listen to the album, it does not involve me enough.
If you are a fan of Dave G or Terry P, this album is a bargain buy it!

I confess to be an avid discworld reader and although some of this synthesizer music is now somewhat dated it still acts a a good interpretation of elements of Pratchetts discworld - pity that they never included the Hedgehog Song in Nanny Oggs full version
( Perhaps even better for avid fans is is the recent Steeleyespan release " Wintersmith")

Oh dear! I first listened to Dave Greenslade's music as a teenager and it was very accomplished and distictive without the pomposity of much of the progressive rock of the time. I really looked forward to this album when I heard of it as I am a very great fan of Terry Pratchett. I was somewhat disappointed as this album is very twee and lacks the incisive humour of the great man. I can see what Mr Greenslade was aiming for but (IMHO) he misses. This is a great shame as there is definitely a need for this album done well. :)

Songs don't have a huge amount of quality and while the Wizard's Staff Has a Knob on The End is hilarious. It sadly lacks the hedgehog song. For a far better Pratchett Themed Album check out Steeleye Span's Wintersmith.

This was a replacement for a lost copy of From The Discworld. It arrived very quickly, in exactly the condition described, well packaged. From The Discworld is wonderfully imagined music that definitely evokes the feel of Sir Terry Pratchett's Discworld, and I am very happy to once again have this music to enjoy.
