Dirty Deeds refers to the fact that Nathan LeBeau digs sewerage ditches (amongst other things)! Not your typical Romance male lead? However he "trades" with Tate 'sex lessons' for 'art lessons' to help him out with his new career - landscape gardening. Tate wants spontaneous sex...only thing is, Nathan doesn't want sex full stop (yeah, really) he wants to have a romantic relationship instead.... the anticipation is worth the wait, he says...and yes it is...

Though an earlier Lorelei James book, don't be put off by the previous 3 star review as it is up there with the best of the Rough Riders stories.

With most romance novels, I tend to be 'on the side of the female lead', if there are sides to be taken, and in this one, I sort of was on the side...of the male lead. The female lead, Tate, came across as rather self-centred and 'me, me, me', but not in a nasty way, and she seemed to want to compartmentalise her life. I wouldn't have called her a good girl, or sexually inexperienced, as the blurb makes out, as she gave as good as she got and wasn't above breaking rules at work to begin a relationship with someone who turned out to be a loser and user, yet her reveal of the issue, turned good for her.

Nathan was sweet and caring, in his interactions with both Tate and his family, but I didn't like that he had to agree to play their romance out according to Tate's rules, though as that turned out, it was just a verbal agreement and pretty much everything that came after was on his rules and his timetable. He was nice enough, but frankly, rather boring, which was a pity, as today, there aren't that many books with NA leads, and I had had high hopes of this book.

Did I believe that these leads were really into each other?...I had to think about that and the answer was no. I think that they wanted each other, and that he had feelings for her, but she was still too selfish and into her own life, her job, thumbing her nose at her mother and having things her way. I thought that the 'betrayal' that the author built in wasn't really much of one and that it dissipated far, far too easily and conveniently. I was actually more interested in the marital problems of a side character, whose tale perhaps has already been written, or will be - I will be checking that out.

The author threw in a bit of prejudice against the NA, but didn't really follow that up.

when you're in the mood for explicit sex and romance, you cant go wrong with Lorelei James, and she doesn't disappoint with this book either. Both of the characters are relatable, though you do want to slap them for not communicating with each other, but if there was no misunderstanding there would be very little story in any romance novel. Its no tolkein, but it's quite good escapism never the less.

I had high hopes for this book. I've never read an erotic romance where the male lead is a Native American and whilst Nathan is extremely hot and the author provides very good descriptions of both him and Tate, this book for me just didn't deliver.

There is a small sub plot that deals with the prejudices towards Native Americans and I would have had greater enjoyment had this been more at the forefront of the story. Instead what we have is Tate needing some work carried out on her house and due to financial reasons her only option is to hire one of her best friends brother, who in turn will provide the work and sex lessons in exchange for Art lessons from Tate, a qualified Graphic Designer. At first I wasn't convinced that this storyline would be realistic or dynamic enough. I couldn't seem to grasp why Nathan's sister, Val would possibly even consider suggesting her brother be the one to provide sexual favours, but still it held promise to be a steamy read.

Sadly the steaminess, just didn't quite do it for me and I felt that the sex and pretty much all of the book had a very old fashioned romance novel feel to it. This didn't help by the fact that words like groin, crotch and man parts were sometimes used to describe Nathan's penis. The sex itself felt more like a dance than getting down and dirty with one another. Having said that, although the actual sex itself is slow to get going the author does describe the act in painstaking detail, which may appeal to quite a lot of readers.

As I've already mentioned, Nathan is hot and there were references to him being some kind of Alpha Male type, however I didn't feel that he was. In fact, it was Tate who was the more Alpha and emotionally detached out of the two, especially when it came to initiating the sex.

Ive read a few books by this author and she always seems to write hot Cowboys with more than a dash of romance so it was quite interesting to see just what Ms James would do with a sexy Native American . If you are in the mood for fun sexy exploits than this author is usually one to look for but I have to confess that this particular story is possibly not her most raunchy. If a slower pace full of anticipation appeals to you then this book should fit the bill quite nicely.
Tate is tired of always being a good girl and would like nothing more than for Nathan to dirty her up a little but Nathan has other ideas! He has had more than his fair share of one night stands and now he's looking for something more! Nathan wants romance in his life and even iif taking it slow has him all clenched up he is determined to do right by the endearing Tate but Tate is a determined woman and right now her sights are firmly set on Nathan!
Well the title says dirty but I suspect the authors regular readers might be a tad confused. It's a sweet story about two people connecting and although initially there's embarasnent it's pretty clear that the outcome will be worth the journey. I loved Nathan and thought Tate had him tied up in knots but then I wished they could have possibly connected a little sooner. It felt strange as they skirted around each other and went from hot to cold and then back again! This story jumped about a bit too much for me and although I liked both central characters it's not my favourite by this author . A sweet romance to satisfy romantics everywhere.
Three and a half from me
