Wowwwww!! This book has seriously kick started my slacking reading speed.
I have been in a book funk for a while, and it was taking me ages to get through books, that normally I would of flown through. I just couldn't pick up the pace, or become more gripped by the story. Not saying they weren't good books, they were, they just took me ages to read.

Then along came Dirty Bad Savage. I had come across Dirty Bad Wrong quite late on from the release hype, so by the time I read it, there was only a couple of weeks, until the release of this next book.
I was still buzzing over the unique, sexy, and clever plot of the first book, so I was MORE than ready for what was coming next.

This time, the story is about beautiful and conservative Sophie. She comes from family money, but works hard at the job she loves. She is in charge of trying to sort out, one of the roughest, and most troublesome, dangerous housing estates, in London. She does it because she is good at it, and she has balls of steel. You need it with the inhabitants of this housing area.

Fresh out of prison, Callum Jackson is back on the estate, and not exactly welcomed home. All he is concerned with, is getting his dog back, and keeping his head down. Except that's not possible around there. He is already in fights and trouble within minutes of arriving back. Plus his loyalty to his friends, has him taking on debts that aren't even his.

Sophie and Callum cross paths pretty early, and Sophie gets a brutal and raw vision of what Callum is capable of. She sees Callum in a fierce street fight, with one of the resident trouble makers, and she is obviously shocked. Yet watching him, she also feels something else.
Sophie ends up helping out Callum.

This is a book that certainly lives up to its title, so please heed the author’s warnings, they are there for a reason not just decoration.
So what did I think of the book – well I have to say that while I approached it with reverence, I absolutely freaking loved it.
Yes, it had some aspects that made me shake my head and re-read – just because I wasn’t actually sure that I had read it right in the first place.
And Yes, it did have a savage undertone that ran all the way to it’s very core but it felt right and not at all out of context and I put that down to the fact that the quality of the writing which was superb.
The storyline was one that completely drew me in and in the frenzy of my absorption I absolutely cared about what was going on, it took on a realism that I didn’t think I would have been able to fathom let alone completely engage with.
It made me want to know what the hell was going on, it made me need to know what made these guys tick, it made me need to know just how far they were prepared to go and most of all it made me care.
While the emotional content of the book took me by surprise somewhat, I cannot deny that the feelings that I was left with when it was over were emotionally draining.
Sophie and Callum could not have been more different, they were from polar opposites for the social spectrum but what they shared was the desire to feel – for Sophie it was her need to be controlled, her desire to find a Dom that could give her exactly what she craved, and in Callum she had her man.
Callum fought hard every day just to keep his heart beating, he always had. Life had never been easy but he had survived and was beholden to no-one.

OMG! I am just so speechless! I don’t remember the last time I read a book so fast in my life. This book was perfection. I mean, I am just lost for words! Jade West, once again, proves that she is a master story teller. This is her second book, and honestly I can’t pick a favorite. Both were AMAZING!

Now back to “Savage” and its characters.

Let's start with Callum. He was so sweet - underneath his gruff exterior – truly and absolutely! He's not had the best upbringing but makes do the way he knows best. So many times, my heart broke for him. I just wanted to hug him and rail at the system and say "why aren't you doing something!?" I already mentioned that he was sweet, but in addition to that, despite the fact that he was rough around the edges, he was kind, compassionate, loving, talented, sensitive, etc. He was just an all-around great guy dealt a s***ty hand in life.

Sophie. She's a product of money, but she's not your regular kind of daddy's rich girl. She's compassionate and kind and tries to make a difference in her own little way - despite the odds stacked against her. She is strong, and knows her own mind, but...despite this, she's still somewhat "confined" by expectations and familial pressure. Underneath her proper exterior beats the heart of an unconventional woman. She was a perfect complement to Callum. She had the biggest, caring heart which was just what Callum needed.

I can't say much more without giving the story away, but just prepare to have your heartstrings tugged. Now, you don't need to read Dirty Bad Wrong to get into this book - but I'd advise you to read it all the same. It was a bloody fantastic book and so you shouldn’t even hesitate.
