5.0 out of 5 stars Another great album by Slough Feg 25 Mar. 2014
By Aaron - Published on Amazon.com

Slough Feg have NOT made a bad album and this is no exception. The style of this album isn't as straightforward as some of their classics and takes a few spins to grasp, but it's awesome. Scalzi nails it yet again and the album never gets old. Always support good things! This band is a good thing! Buy the album!

4.0 out of 5 stars Puts the "weird" back in Slough Feg 4 Jun. 2015
By Justin G. - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
2014’s Digital Resistance is the ninth album from US-based traditional metal band Slough Feg (formerly known as the Lord Weird Slough Feg). Slough Feg has proved time and again that they’re one of the most unusual and creative bands in the traditional metal scene, and they continue to merge the old school with the avant-garde with this album.

Digital Resistance is a concept album, though to get to the heart of the concept you’ll need to spend some time with the lyrics. The general theme seems to be the struggle of being an analog man in a digital world. Musically, there’s a strong folk influence here, so it sounds like the first two Iron Maiden albums through a Skyclad filter. There’s also a similarity to the first couple of Hammers of Misfortune albums, but that may just be hearing Mike Scalzi in both bands.

This is kind of a tough one to appreciate. When I heard Digital Resistance originally I was not impressed. It seemed not metal enough and too weird initially. Coming at it almost a year later, it’s still weird, but in a good way. The folkish melodies really get into your subconscious, and it’s still metallic, just not in an easy, immediately obvious kind of way.

It’s going to take several spins to really appreciate it, but Digital Resistance is worth the extra effort. Besides, I think at this point Scalzi and Slough Feg have earned a measure of trust from metal fans.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hail the Resistance! 12 Mar. 2014

Slough Feg, consistently delivering the goods!
Nice mix with the acoustic layers, and always the diverging/converging guitar work.
Great sound overall. Each track has its own appeal and character. Usually many things are happening at once.
This album seems to build with each track.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very good new album, from a very underrated band 21 Mar. 2014

Only giving four stars because they have some that are better, but by no means does this mean it is not a five star album by most bands standards.
