Don't be fooled. This book may look as if it's aimed at primary school kids because it's illustrated with pictures of young people. But it's also one of the best introductions to digital photography I know. It starts on the basis that you know nothing about photography. Then it explains in clear, precise language how to take sharp, correctly exposed pictures. It covers a whole range of subjects - portraits, action, travel etc. All the basic techniques are here and it's understandable! If you're a person who finds photography a mystery then get this book. It'll change your life. I recommend the author publishes the same book illustrated with pictures of older people - teenagers and adults - and he'll find a whole new audience. But until he does get this book. Everything is here to get you started taking better pictures right away.

UPDATE:- FEB 2013. Since I posted this review in 2007 the software on the disc has dated and may not work with modern computers. But don't worry! The advice in the text is still relevant. Perhaps the publishers might produce a new edition, but even if they never do this still a great book - one of the best introductions to digital photography. It's a miracle of clarity and conciseness.

Whilst I agree with the previous reviewer as to the content and advice in this book, the disc provided is for Windows 2000 or XP and will not run on Vista or on current Mac software. Very disappointing to my son who wanted to go straight onto the computer and "mess up" his photos with lizard skin and animal eyes.

This is a brilliant book. Clearly written, very informative good for those new to photography or those wanting to make the most from their digital camera. The illustrations on the cover and inside make this book look like it is aimed at children but the actual information is just as valid for adults.
