I have always been a point and shoot type of photography. Yet this book encourage me to try something different and I actually have started to take much better photos.
There is a lot of info in this book, and I found it was best to read a bit, then go out and try it. But with patience and time this book is worth every penny.

Although I'm not a big fan of the "for dummies" series, I thought that this book gave a nice introduction into nature photography whilst also introducing newcomers to photography something about generic concepts (composition, exposure, etc.) in the first two parts. Part three discusses several subjects for nature photography (birds, animals & flowers and insects) and discusses equipment and provides tips for how to take photos of the subject under various conditions. Part IV focuses on landscape photography and is a bit of a odd mix of subjects: landscape features, sunrise and sunset and HDR. The last part is the least impressive as it discusses photo editing ideas and suggestions for how to share your images. These topics are better dealt with in specific photo editing books and will just give a flavour of what's possible. The troubleshooting chapter is also very simple but may be helpful for beginners.

All in all a nice read for newcomers to nature photography. As it discusses many different aspects of nature photography, it lacks depth in each particular field so if you are thinking about doing more nature photography and you're new to photography, you might want to read this one.

Digital Landscape and Nature Photography For Dummies

I bought this book from Amazon because I have read several Dummies books and have been impressed with them. The book was a birthday present for my 16 year old grandson who hopes to follow a career in photography. His verdict is that the book is ideal. It is very good, has lots of information described in an easily understood way. The book arrived just within the month stipulated as the probable delivery time. Thank you. Eve
