I got this book second hand via an Amazon marketplace seller. It has helped me in many ways. Firstly it is full of beautiful examples and how to recreate them. The text is easy to understand. Secondly the book motivates you to go out and have a go.
Since reading this book I can now manipulate layers easily and produce the special effects in the book.
Overall an excellent book that opens a new door into experimental digital photography. I have now invested in some Lee filters and really like doing very long exposures using the Lee 'Big Stopper' to get that cotton wool effect on water. This book made it possible and I cannot recommend it enough.

Mastering this black art is difficult enough if it weren't for the panoply of so called "guides" that only serve to make things harder. This book is different. In a straightforward way, Michael Freeman explains things logically and provides no end of useful examples.

I wanted to take my photo's somewhere completely new - somewhere to do with fine-art, but there's a lot to learn when it comes to Photoshop and other editing software. This book offers an easy, readable, insight on the basics, which straight away change your photography/ images. After reading this a few times, you get the hang of it, then crave more advanced stuff. But, even with this, it unlocks so much already. If you're looking for something to start you off, i'd get this. It's well written and simple to follow.
