This is a SUPERB monitor for the price. Don't you hate it when people say that? Makes you feel like you're buying something that's inferiour to what "your mate" has got. Untrue.
What makes it so cheap? It has an ANALOGUE input, i.e. D-Sub like your CRT screen. Very modern graphics cards have DVI-D outputs for a DIGITAL input on a TFT. The difference is slight. Unless you can compare both together I promise you wont see a difference. The only instance where I would recomend a digital input is where you will be staring at a static screen for hours on end, for example when editing photographs or using photoshop.
This TFT is the brightest I have ever seen, and has a stunningly fast refresh rate. If you are glued to your computer 24/7 playing games then yes, you may see "ghosting" to a slight degree, it's a trait of TFT screens. But then some people even claim to see ghosting effects on an 8ms panel... all I can say to these people is that you need to get out more. Meet people, you know?
To summarise - ask yourself, why are you buying a TFT? If it's for word processing, get this one. If it's for saving desk space, get this one. If it's for video, movies or music visualisations get this one. If it's for gaming, that depends on whether you enjoy games, or you are obsessed with them. For the former, get this one. For the latter, blow half a thousand on some other TFT. It's your money after all.
Incidentally Amazon.co.uk have the cheapest price for this product. Looking elsewhere is a waste of time unless you want other opinions / reviews. For this TFT, buy Amazon or not at all in my opinion.

Superb! In a word. I have been browsing the internet for a 17" TFT for months and chose this model because of it's price and specifications. If you are wary because all the 'branded' models similar to this are over £200-00 and this seems too good to be true, it isn't.
As they say, to get the best from the monitor you have to have it set to the maximum resolution so ensure you computer and specifically graphics card can handle it.
The spec on Amazon says that it has a response time of 16ms but in the manual it quotes 12ms which is even better.
I have used it for games too, online, and there is no such thing as 'Ghosting' where this monitor is concerned. The internal speakers arn't much cop but then who would buy a monitor based on it's ability to pump out loud volume?
Finally, so far so good and as you might be able to tell, I am delighted with my purchase.
- Great value for money
- Excellent technical spec
- Looks great and takes up no space at all
All in all, dont waste your money on a more expensive monitor just because you know the name better.

I wrote a previous review on here when I'd bought two of these, and stated that while both were good, one of them needed Auto Adjusting an awful lot but that the quality of image on both were fantastic.
I've now had 5 of these in total now (having used them with new-build's for clients) and would say Watch Out! - there are DEFINATELY two models floating about under the same name as "Digimate L-1715".
While one of these models gave an excellent, sharp, rich picture, the other was blurred and the On Screed Display seemed to be a less up-to-date version.
I thought I'd share this with people, but understand it's not hugely helpful as I'm saying that one model is superior to the other, and yet you don't know which you'll get.
Now that I can appreciate why people's opinions of this have varied so much, I would suggest paying a little more for a better known product. While a couple of these have been great, it's too much of a raffle to know which you'll get.

I bought this on a whim as my 17" CRT fell off my desk. The details that Amazon had posted did not match up with the specs on the website of the firm - stated that this had a 12 ms response time. After a little digging this appeared to be the true time as a couple of other firms (they'll remain nameless) are selling this as their own branded LCD Monitor. I got this a couple of months ago and it's been brilliant. The speakers are crap, but that's to be expected and the picture is really sharp and very responsive - watching I, Robot and playing Nexus caused no problems at all. The real bonus is the backlight which is really crisp and makes the monitor out standing and easily a match to the mainstream boys - my top end Dell screen at work can't match the clarity.
I managed to knock this off my desk too and it survived unharmed without any dead pixels. In all you probably can only get a better quality monitor of this size for twice the price - I've seen an 8ms response time one recently that's £500

We purchased a 1715 to give it a try. There were 2 very clear white marks on the screen in our opinion of more than 1 pixel each and 2 not so large red and blue marks, we contacted Digimate, but even from brand new they will not accept as faulty unless there are more than 5 bad pixels in different area. This has to be 6 or more pixels to use your 3year warrranty.
Cheap but not very cheerful

I purchased this item 1 week ago to use with my PowerMac G5 so I could reclaim some of my desk space. I read the reviews and thought 'why not?'. It has a sturdy base, and is very adjustable - one of the best I've seen on a TFT screen. It's also wall mountable out of the box, so you don't need extra VESA wall kits. The Digimate screen is incredibly bright! Unfortunately, the colour accuracy is way off any other TFT screen I've used. Everything is far too saturated. Also, it's SO bright, that when I calibrate it using ColorSync the screen is still too bright on its lowest settings for proper calibration. Who knows, maybe it's just my screen. My specimen also has two stuck pixels, but that's a risk with any TFT screen. For £139 it's a cheap and cheerful monitor, but mine is boxed up ready to return - I'm going back to my Hansol CRT screen.
