Review

"The Abs Diet is a sensible eating and exercise plan, not a fad diet. The Abs Diet Powerfoods and the Abs Diet Workout are designed to make you fit, healthy, and lean for life. If you want to get on top of your game, this is where you start. Remember: Don't cheat yourself, treat yourself." --The Rock, movie star "A must read for anyone who is serious about building a healthy body and changing to a healthy lifestyle. Most diets are based on gimmicks that set you up for failure; this is the first program I have seen that promotes a lifestyle change that anyone can live with." --David R. Pearson, Ph.D., director of the strength-research laboratory at Ball State University. "Finally, a diet that's focused on what you can eat, not what you can't! . . . You'll look good, but you'll feel great--and you'll succeed at last!"--Heidi Skolnik, staff nutritionist for the New York Giants "Clear, crisp, refreshingly sensible... There are few 'diet books' that I am willing to endorse. I endorse this one enthusiastically."--David L. Katz, M.D., director of medical studies in public health at Yale University School of Medicine

This isn't a diet, per se; it's more of a guide to sensible eating. There isn't any need to measure calories, fat or portion size. By choosing particular foods, you'll be eating the right vitamins and nutrients automatically, and because you'll be consuming foods that provide the fuel that your body needs, you won't overeat. Rather, you'll stop when your body has taken in enough. It really is easy to follow and - more importantly - it works.

I tried Weightwatchers and had some success with the plan, but I was almost always hungry even though I'd eaten all that I was "allowed" for that day. With the Abs Diet, I can eat when I'm hungry (hunger is your body's signal that it needs fuel) and not put on excess fat. Whilst this book concentrates on food and nutrition, it correctly points out that real success can only be achieved with a complementary excercise regime.

Eat Right Every Time is easy to read, which makes it easy to remember. Although it was originally written for the US market, it's been adapted for a UK audience.

It's a good follow up to the first book (the Abs Diet), particularly when considering the price of it. It's a handy little reference that will help you stay on track. I have found some repetitions from the first book but that's OK with this low price. I think that both Abs Diet books will be very well supplemented by "Can We Live 150" by Dr. M. Tombak. It is absolutely essential item for anyone interested in healthy lifestyle.

The basics of this book are very simple and easy to follow, within a few days of eating within the guidelines set out by the book my energy levels and alertness were showing massive signs of improvement... which can only be good....
There is no new 'miracle weight loss' trick revealed in this book, just simple, easy to follow basic information that we all should know anyway, but we get lazy and need putting back on the straight and narrow.
Remember 'The Poo Test' on Gillian McKeiths TV show, You are What You Eat.... this diet will increase your dietry fibre levels considerably so massively reduce gut transit time of your food so be ready for the biggest, slimey, faecal waste products that you have ever produced.... This improves as your body adjusts to the dietry change, but borders on embarrassing as you are starting the changes.
One criticism, I have a book called 'The Food Doctor - ISBN 1-85585-682-4', it was given to me as a present 10 years ago and it is written and presented in such fantastic glorious multicolour with incredible photography, excellent printing materials and also written in English.... rather than American-English (there is a difference) and it still is the benchmark in my opinion in how books of this nature should be sold.... The Abs Diet appears to only be available printed on recycled low quality paper, written in American-English without any photography.... If it was repackaged as per 'The Food Doctor' and sold for £20-00 ish then I'd certainly buy another copy.
Overall, a very simple set of guidelines that will help improve your eating habits, as far as weight loss, that is always down to your ability to control your hunger cravings by eating the right foods.

This book certainly has different perspective about fitness diet. To be honest, I followed it very carefully and it did not work for me at all. I have actually gained a few kilos. I think one must be so out of shape and doing alot of sports in oder to get something out of this book.

Useful reading to keep you motivated. However,I think that all you need is in the main book - The Abs Diet which is brilliant and I have been slimming down considerably! This book does contain some additional recipes to keep the diet more varied. And a section on the best food to eat when dining out. On balance I would say buy this book if you are taking the diet seriously and are bored of the recipes in the original book.
