Angelina is sitting in a coffee shop waiting to go to a job interview when she notices him. Haithem is a tall, dark, handsome, mysterious man. She can't stop looking at him, she is attracted to him and wants to be near him. While Angelina is a good girl, still living at home, she needs a change more than she knows. After the life she has lived through, a change is just what she needs and Haithem is the one person to give it to her. So when Haithem's right hand man shows up and invites Angelina to come with him to see Haithem, she jumps at the chance. But what he offers her is not what she thinks. She goes to leave and falls down the stairs and when she wakes up, she is in a lifeboat. When she gets out of the lifeboat she is facing a man with a gun and is taken to Haithem. And it seems she was knocked out all night and the boat has sailed. Now she is stuck on his boat and he thinks she is out to get him and his secrets. Will he believe her when she tells him the truth? Will he tell her the truth about who he really is and what his secrets are? Who is after them? Is she being held captive or is it where she wants and needs to be.
There was parts of the story that were slow to me but it would pick up and have me glued to each page again and again. I didn't feel this was a dark story although there were at time dark parts. This is a first for me from Amber A. Bardan and I really enjoyed this story and I can't wait for more to see what happens with Angelina and Haithem.

While set in an Australian harbour city, this tale could fit many locations. It's an odd romance story following a girl who has just left college and is hoping to get a reporting job. Everything that occurs seems to me to be totally unrealistic from the outlined, proposed article to the events that follow. So just read it as an escapist and slightly erotic fantasy.

Angelina gets leered at for thirty minutes in a café by a strange man. Not having the sense she was born with, she decides to stalk him but doesn't do very well. Another strange man pulls up in a car and tells her to get in and he'll take her to Haithem, since she's so interested. Lesson one: girl, do not get in the car. It was true when you were a child and it's still true now. She doesn't tell anyone where she is going. Lesson two: tell someone where you are going. She gets on board a luxury yacht with nobody else in sight but armed guards. Lesson three: girl, do not get on a yacht with strangers who could dump you overboard in shark-infested waters a mile offshore.

Meeting a man of Middle Eastern appearance, our heroine never makes the obvious conversation by asking where he's from. Why not? She doesn't wonder if all this suspicious activity means he's a terrorist. Why not? By the time Angelina realises she should have been more careful she's in a precarious situation. We don't get a good impression of Haithem until extremely late in the tale, which, I have to say, makes it all the harder for us to understand why Angelina would want to meet him or find him sexy. I did find the ending interesting and a well-thought out motivation.

There's an element of suspense and of erotic romance which is well done and plenty of nice setting detail. As the title implies we could read this as a warning - what not to do. I'm classing it as a New Adult story because of Angelina's obvious inexperience and because it is an adult read.

Didn't I Warn You,  Amber Bardan

Review from Jeannie Zelos book reviews

Genre:  Romance

*This  is book one, with book two due later this year. I’m assuming its just the two parts. I do wish authors would tell readers how many parts make up the whole story. I’m so cautious now after having got caught in the Crossfire  Trilogy fiasco  where the day the final novel, book three, was released so was the news that it had been changed to a five book story. I returned book three, didn’t want to wait unspecified time and pay unspecified sums for the next two books! * And that’s my rant over ;-)

So here we have a story that kept me guessing, it seems Haithem is hot, delicious and dangerous. Just what had he done, just what had poor Angelina got herself mixed up in? What was her history? Its clear there’s a lot about her we don’t know that affect the way she is now. who is Josh? And what does he mean to her? Its all questions, questions, questions and each time we get hints at the answer of one it feels like it paves the way for two more. Great fun, I like being kept guessing.

Loved Angelina, but I wasn’t totally convinced of her actions. The magazine interview – would anyone really make up that on the fly? And expect to be able to do it when she knows nothing except the person’s name? How did she expect to be able to contact him? She got lucky in a way, or maybe unlucky....She’s definitely a mixed up girl, haunted by past events, trying to find herself. Then she meets Haithem, he paves the way forward for a new direction.
Haithem, Mr deep, dark and delicious....he smoulders with sensuality, drips sex just from his voice.

HASH(0x97f4a858) out of 5 stars Amber Bardan succeeded in providing genuine misdirection without even trying. 19 April 2016
By Kim - Published on
Format: Kindle Edition
Generally, when I read a Romantic Suspense or Mystery, I have some idea where it may be going. There are clues that seem to give you a sense of what the big reveal may be. In this instance, I was truly surprised. Amber Bardan succeeded in providing genuine misdirection without even trying. By withholding certain trivial information about both the hero and the heroine, the reader is forced to use their own imagination and that makes Didn’t I Warn You hard to put down. The whole time that I was reading, I kept thinking that I was on to something but I wasn’t. Heck, I’m not totally sure what the last names of the main characters are. I think that it was mentioned once or was it.

Didn’t I Warn You centers around a chance and abrupt meeting between twenty-year-old Angelina of Australia and thirty-year-old Haithem who I think is Egyptian but it’s never really confirmed. Even as I write this, I’m still not totally sure about some of the details because they catch you by surprise. So let’s talk about what I am certain of. Angelina never lives on the wildside but decides to take a chance and try to get information on a handsome and sexy stranger after she nearly bombs an interview for a magazine. Both intrigued and suspicious of Angelina, Haithem invites Angelina to his yacht and they inadvertently end up taking a trip to ports unknown. By all accounts, Haithem kidnaps her or Angelina stows away on his yacht. You’ll have to read the book to decide for yourself. This question is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to real mystery regarding these two people. I wasn’t sure if Haithem was good or bad. Is Angelina a spy or just a lost girl. There were just so many questions. The good thing is that these questions appear to get answered in the end. This is the first book in the the Bad for You series so be prepared to have other questions that don’t get answered.

In short, Didn’t I Warn You is a case of things aren’t what they seem. In this instance, it works really well. So well that I can only say so much without spoiling it. Just know that as Angelina and Haithem get to know each other, their sexual encounters will surely have you breaking for a cold shower. And when they aren’t fulfilling their carnal needs, you will be very suspicious of everything else that happens.

HASH(0x97f4a8d0) out of 5 stars Didn't I Warn You 18 April 2016
By Carrie G. - Published on
Format: Kindle Edition
Angelina is young and innocent living vicariously through her friends encounters with men so when she sees a talk, dark, handsome and mysterious foreigner in the local coffee shop she's immediately intrigued with him. The two are from completely different worlds where Angelina is still the good girl living at home with her parents and Haithem leads a life of danger always looking over his shoulder.

Haithem is used to buying whatever he wants in life so when Angelina agrees to meet him on his yacht he offers to pay Angelina to stay with him for the next two weeks. Angelina is of course offended by the offer and tries to leave but has an accident leaving her stranded on the yacht when it sails. Finding herself trapped with Haithem, Angelina decides to live out her fantasies and finds herself falling for him but will his secrets be too much to handle?

Didn’t I Warn You? is one of those reads that almost surprised me at really how much I ended up enjoying it. At close to 400 pages and with a setting where the majority of the book is the two main characters interacting on a yacht with only each other it was truly shocking at how hooked I got on what would happen and how much it really was suspenseful waiting to find out what would happen.

The one reason I didn't give this read five stars was due to Angelina being a bit too naive and immature in the beginning of the story that it took me a while to warm up to her as a character. Once I learned her backstory though she made complete sense to me and the story really began to flow wonderfully.

Haithem on the other hand was just mysterious enough that I was dying to know more about him and liked him the entire time. Very sexy character that reminds me a bit of Christian Grey without the bondage fetish and with a definite softer side which in my mind made him a lot more likable. But he's the sexy millionaire with secrets with his somewhat awkward love interest so there is a bit of a similarity between the two.

Overall, a great dark somewhat erotic suspense that I absolutely flew through reading in a few hours just not wanting to put this one down. Would definitely recommend checking this one out. Will be looking forward to the next in this series to see where the adventure heads next.

I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

HASH(0x99bdad80) out of 5 stars A very different love story 19 April 2016
By Linda - Published on
Format: Kindle Edition
Angelina is trying so hard she thinks if I could just get a job and move out of my parents house I could be free. Little did she know that when she catches the eye of a great looking guy freedom will be her biggest wish. Haithem is captivated by the woman in the coffee shop and he wants her so when she leaves a party she is at his assistant offers to take her to him and she accepts. When Haithem asks her to put her life on hold and be with him for two weeks and offers to pay her she is insulted and is leaving his boat she slips and falls into a lifeboat and doesn't wake for 12 hours. Of course he thinks she is spy sent to steal his secrets and she just wants to go home but she can't go home because someone is after them. Haithem has a lot of secrets and Angelina has been hiding a few of her own but the more she is in captivity the more in love with Haithem she is becoming. They both are slowly starting to confide in each other even though they still don't quite trust each other they are becoming really close. Angelica has always been cast aside because of her twin brothers sickness and no one ever asked her what she wanted they just told her and when he died they didn't focus on her cause it was just too painful.Haitlem lost his entire family so trying to trust anyone is next to impossible. Haitlem may have money but he is searching for the same as Angelina someone to put them first. As twisted as this story started out it really was a very different love story and even though it's a standalone I can't wait to read the next one.

“I didn’t get to kiss him-he leaned down and kissed me. Kissed me as though I was something to eat. Tasted me. Tugged my bottom lip, then opened me and sucked my tongue.”

5 I warned you stars!! Twisted and dark!

Angelina fell hard, the minute she saw Haithem. He was everything she wanted in a man, mysterious and gorgeous. But Haithem isn’t what he appears to me, oh no, there’s way more. He’s dark and dangerous. And being with him will come at a cost….
I won’t say anything more, but trust me when I say it just takes a crazy turn from there. You will be on the edge of your seat as you read. This is the first book I’ve read by this author, but I can tell you it won’t be the last!! Great start to the series, and I can’t wait to read more!

HASH(0x97f4ad98) out of 5 stars This book swept me away, stole my heart, and made me completely fall in love - it was absolutely incredible! 23 April 2016

As soon as I saw a teaser for Didn't I Warn You?, I immediately wanted to read it! It sounded exactly like my kind of book and I was so excited to read it. It was a little different than I thought it would be, but I was in no way disappointed about that - in fact, I loved it!

It didn't take long or much to love Angel. I just wanted to see more of her and learn all her secrets. I had no idea what her secrets would be, but when I did find out - they just made me completely love her. Angel is so strong and real and genuine and she's sweet but she also has a fire and passion inside her that have made her one oh my favorite heroines that I've read about lately. Angel is absolutely amazing and I can't wait to be inside her head again!

Haithem isn't always an easy man to love. He has his cold, closed-off moments where he seems indifferent and he doesn't do the right thing every time, but when you look at all of him, it's impossible not to love him. I was expecting a dark, hard man with hardly any lightness to him at all and Haithem is dark and tough, but he has this light underneath it all that makes him worthy of being called a hero. He definitely has all the dominant, commanding, possessive alpha qualities down, but he also has this sweet, protective side and you can see his devotion to Angel and how totally she owns his heart. Haithem surprised me and I would have loved him even if he was like what I originally thought he would be, but I'm so glad that he wasn't because I wouldn't change anything about him and I know that everything he is made me love him more than I would have.

Didn't I Warn You? was just a book that constantly surprised me. I thought I was in for a very dark, erotic romance and while it was dark and sexy - it was so much more. It was full of heartbreak, passion, secrets and revelations, and so much heart. This book swept me away, stole my heart, and made me completely fall in love - it was absolutely incredible!

Didn't I Warn You? is the first book in the Bad for You series, it's told in Haithem and Angel's POV, and Haithem and Angel are together in the end, but I can't wait for Didn't I Promise You?!
