I have tried to follow Dr Myhill guidelines and advice before, but unfortunately my compliance, energy and enthusiasm diminished, as is often the case with CFS/M.E. victims! However this book is an inspirational and comprehensive insight into the 'WHY' we have these debilitating conditions, and the 'HOW' of how to treat, control/manage and hopefully recover from them. I would highly recommend anyone with CFS/ME to read this book. It takes time and precious energy to absorb the information, however it makes complete sense. Sufferers of these conditions are 'broken' in so many ways, Dr Myhill provides an evidence based regime to repair our damaged systems. It will be an uphill battle I expect, but this book is an excellent starting point to be proactive in our own recovery. So here goes!

I get absolutely overwhelmed with all the health advice about ME in forums and websites etc, but all I really need is Dr Myhill's protocols in this book to continue on my road to recovery. I haven't read it all yet but I started with Chapter 18, 'The nutritional supplements you need to recover'. These supplements really do make a difference! Everyone who suffers from ME, doctors and family members should read this book. I've recommended it to many people and I'll continue to do so.

For anyone who is struggling with chronic fatigue syndrome, this book is a must. It actually gets down to the principle difficulties experienced by CFS/ME sufferers and with no help from the NHS, this book has become my bible, alongside Dr Myhill's companion book Sustainable Medicine. I wasn't able to read anything when the ME first struck. I was housebound and very light and noise sensitive, also with cracking headaches. When I was able to read I prioritised Chapter 2 and then as I improved I read other chapters. The ten commandments for saving energy on page 201 are invaluable but very challenging for a Type A Behaviour person like myself. I was told that if I tried to beat ME, it would beat me! I am still housebound but am now able to read and write, although seven months in I know I have a long way to go. Acceptance, patience, gentle pacing and listening to your body is the key. Finally, the only way I could get support guidance and a diagnosis was to go privately, but well worth it. I hope other readers gain benefit from this wonderful medic's books.

I have suffered with CFS for 2.5 years and this is the first thing I have come across that totally 'gets it'. It's written in fantastic detail with loads of practical help on how to get better.

Best of all, the strategies outlined in the book are tried and tested based on 30 years of medical experience so this works, for sure.

A must read for anyone with CFS/ME.

This is perhaps the most useful tool for treating ME/CFS I have discovered in my journey back towards a comfortable baseline. I've read lots (and I mean LOTS) of information, and so much of it concludes, 'We don't know what to suggest...' Even many of the guides published by ME charities have this same problem--because there isn't much cohesive research, and there aren't definite answers, most people would prefer to veer on the side of giving no advice rather than giving bad advice. But this is, for me, where the problem lies--I understand there isn't a miracle cure and that doctors and scientists can't (yet) agree on what's the best treatment, but I still want something to try.

The NHS treatments of CBT and GET are highly problematic. Even if they worked (which they don't), they're only ever supposed to help you cope with a life-long condition rather than ways to recover. The beauty of this book is its modular approach to ME/CFS treatment: there are a range of different things you can try, allowing you to see what works for you. Whether you agree with the science behind an approach or not, the results are evidence in themselves, so if you can find a set of approaches that work for you, then that's better than doing nothing (or trying CBT and GET).

I've tried just about everything in Myhill's book now, and I have noticed a massive improvement, with fewer crashes and greater day-to-day functionality. I initially got worse as I switched to a ketogenic diet (a contentious part of her regime for some, who can't ever believe that a high fat diet could ever be healthy), but after a few weeks I felt much better. I'm taking pretty much all the supplements she recommends, plus a few of my own. I've also done a major detox, by cleaning up the house of black mould, dust and heavy metals.

Dr. Sarah Myhill put me on the road to recovery 20 years ago. I needed some more support as I approach 80 and found all I hoped for in her book.

This book is really well explained and (most importantly to me) practical. It contains multiple protocols that you can follow depending on your particular issues. I have had M.E for many years, and a lot of these things I wasn't aware of. Definitely worth buying if you or someone you care about suffers from chronic fatigue.

After 8 years of very-disruptive chronic fatigue (though already much improved) this book provides for the first time, a full, backed-up explanation of my illness- cause, symptoms and experience- and crucially identifies for me the remaining shortfalls in my own CFS management and recovery "therapy". This book is a bright lantern, in contrast to previously hard-to find sporadic rays of light. THANK YOU, Dr. Sarah Myhill!
