A page turner, reallyenjoyed this fast paced thriller. The story felt very realistic. The short chapters make it very easy to progress quickly to the exciting conclusion. A highly recommended read. I am looking forward to the next outing for Detective Kate Bowen
What is the terrorists plot and against whom ? This is the main thrust of T.R. Croke's debut novel in the Kate Bowen Mystery Thriller Series. Despite a relatively slow srart, establishing all the main characters, the book is fast paced and propels you straight into the world of international terrorism and crime detection.
The book is predominantly set in Ireland, France and the UK and closely follows the main character, Irish SIU operator Kate Bowen on her mission to prevent a major terrorist attack from the deadly combined forces of the Provisional IRA and Al Quaeda.
Overall I reallyenjoyed the book and was gripped from relatively early on. The author is obviosly very experienced in the field of crime detection and internsgional government co-operation, as a lot of the book is quite technical. However the book does lack the human interest side that I prefer in a thriller. I didn't find Kate's relationship with her boyfriend at all believable and events were swiftly wrapped up at the end of the book after the main 'event'.
That said I'm looking forward to reading the next instalment in the Kate Bowen series.
I reallyenjoyed the Devil's Luck by Croke. It follows Detective Kate Bowen, an Irish Garda surveillance officer who despite the Machiavellian politics of global policing, a boyfriend who far is more than he seems and former IRA thugs, who have graduated to international terrorism, remains doggedly locked on to her quarry.
The Devils Luck is fast paced, gritty, funny and at all times exudes realism. A real page turner!!!!
