Devil Red (Hap Collins and Leonard Pine Novels) Hardcover – 15 Mar 2011
This Book Is Bound with "Deckle Edge" Paper
You may have noticed that some of our books are identified as "deckle edge" in the title. Deckle edge books are bound with pages that are made to resemble handmade paper by applying a frayed texture to the edges. Deckle edge is an ornamental feature designed to set certain titles apart from books with machine-cut pages. See a larger image.

Reading Devil Red will liven up a few hours, and leave the reader satisfied, and (hopefully) wanting more.
Almost a direct follow up to Vanilla Ride, and I'm glad I didn't leave it too long before finishing that book and starting this one, as quite a few of the characters reappear here. Ultimately I thought the dialogue flowed better than Vanilla Ride but that this wasn't quite as action packed. Either way, I thoroughly enjoyed them both. The book could have done with being a little longer but the last 50 pages are very good, in spite of the fact that it seems a little rushed as other reviewers have commented. But don't let that deter you, coz this is still a hell of a lot of fun!
If you're a fan of Lansdale's Hap & Leonard series I'd be very surprised if you don't like this. If however you're new to the character pairing and aren't sure, you may want to start at the beginning with Savage Season or maybe Mucho Mojo and work your way through.
Packed with colourful characters, morality, southern inhospitality, violence and great dialogue, they all come highly recommended from this reviewer.
