About the Author

Duane's first published novel was INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY, which takes place in the corporate world of Los Angeles, involving a murder, a set-up and lots of action. It was written when he was in the Army, stationed in Germany and struggling to balance his writing life with a military career. As a counterintelligence agent, he then started moving into espionage fiction (DEADLY DECEPTIONS). He was born in Santa Monica, California, where he grew up before finishing up high school in Moorpark, California. Duane attended the United States Military Academy at West Point and served in the US Army for a number of years in counterintelligence. After the Army, he became an investigator, a web page designer, and then a low level programmer for a software gaming company. He has designed numerous games over the years, including PRISONER OF Z'ANTH and US AIR FORCE'S STRATEGIC AIR COMMAND. He completed degrees at San Francisco State University, Western Michigan University and the University of the Pacific. He holds master's degrees in communication and political science. His PHD work was in political science at Western Michigan University. He currently works in the health care field, creating and maintaining web content for a large hospital system.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I would rate this story as three stars. This story delivers science fiction action from start to finish and works well to keep the story line in place. Battles abound between the protagonists and the enemy. I found the story to be a fairly clean read, with few obscenities, so I would consider it as suitable for younger readers as well (teens). Laura, our hero of the story, fights her way to the end of this story, setting up for the next adventure in the series.

Still reading through this story, but at the moment this type of story is just what I wanted to read, The language used in the story is easy to read, LOTS of dialog and the reader is thrown right into a space battle that almost seemed the bad guys would win. The story then moves onto Earth where the fun begins. It portrays Earth's fate in the future.

It does tell a lot of the story in the dialog, which I thought, would have benefited by being told to the reader, but I would like to give this story a good 4.5 star review for its simplicity and action. So this is a sure-footed, suspenseful and exhilarating experience all Sci-Fi fans must read.
