The main problem is If you have the traditional gravity fed hot water system and mains cold water supply to the sink you will need to fit a back flow preventer to the hot water supply. When the tap is on divert to the spray -and before you turn on the spray- if the temperature control is midway between the hot/cold the cold pressure forces cold water back along the hot water pipes (due to the imbalance of the pressures). You can hear it running back up the hot pipes and would cause a problem if left to run. It stops when you open the spray, but this is in contravention of our water laws I think. I think this is an import and should only be used with a presurised/balanced system but there is no information on here to inform about that. My water presures are within the tolerance stated.
Another issue is the tap mixes in the tap base and you have to run the cold to allow the mixed water to empty from the bloc before filling the kettle-the water tastes metallic if you dont.
I think I will have to purchase a booster for the hot water to better balance the hot/cold presures which rather explains the price.
when the product arrived the box was enormous, i thought it cant be that big for the money i paid for it
but when i opened the box i was amazed at the size and the quality of it, it is now fitted and looks lovely and works perfectly
excellent product well recommend
If your hot and cold are from different supplies - ie hot gravity fed, cold mains pressure - you need to be careful. The tap mixes the hot/cold inside the tap.In my case I have .8 BAR hot and 3 BAR cold. When the tap is 50/50 hot/cold you can hear the mains water feeding backwards up the hot supply.
To stop this you must fit a non-return valve to the hot supply. This stops water feeding in reverse up the hot pipe. The problem here is that the non-return valve constricts and reduces further the flow of hot water. You can use a 22mm non-return valve with adapters on each side - 15-22 and 22-15. This has less flow restriction.
However the best solution is to fit a pump.
It's tall, yes, but not stupid looking. Everyone who comes into my kitchen loves it and wants one. I have a waste disposal unit in the half bowl sink and I can have the tap running and disposing of the food at the same time rinsing the food off the dishes into the disposer without the disposer running dry.

This is bought for a new build and therefore not fitted as yet. From what i see the unit looks a lot more expensive than what i paid for kitchen taps previously. Read morePublished 18 months ago by Mr Ronnie Akehurst
