I was recommended this book to read as i love a good horror book.
It was a bit slow to start but it did pick up the more i read, and i found that i couldn't wait for the next episode in hell for Charlie to undertake in order to get his niece back from a demon.Lucifer was different to how i expected of him being in charge of hell,i would like to here more about him.Charlie never wavered from his intentions of getting his niece free at all costs even to himself. It def was a page turner for me and loved that Charlie got to find love down in hell as well as make some demon friends.
It wasn't my kind of horror that i like to read but this book did keep me turning the pages and i loved the story.Cant wait for more from Nic Parker..

Horror is not usually my forte but I really wanted to read something far out of my comfort zone, something that gave me the chills and something that was just totally different than what I normally read. So having seen this come up on TBC and it involving Lucifer, Hell and a whole lot of attitude I snapped it up.

I was apprehensive because I thought this was going to be really scary and I was loving the thought, however it didn't scare me at all. What it did though was pull me right in the story and I bloody loved it.

When Charlie Ward's beloved niece is kidnapped by an atrocious demon, he has to find the secret gateway into the one place every human wants to stay away from: Hell!

Armed only with courage and determination Charlie has to survive in a forbidding place filled with despair and anguish. He must face challenges no mortal should ever have to undergo that threaten to destroy his very soul.

I loved the storyline so much that the fact that it didn't scare me didn't detract from the story at all. The attitude and the chemistry between the characters were awesome and once I started I couldn't put it down.

Lucifer was depicted in such a different light, I loved that he wasn't just the big bad evil of the underworld. If the Devil himself is a Fallen Angel he had to have some compassion right. Can I also say that I absolutely loved Max's character too, her little wisecracks made me howl. Her and Charlie's banter back and forth was comedic.

This book gave me so much enjoyment. I will most definitely be watching out for more from this author in the future.

Definitely 5 fantastic stars!!!

Descent to Hell: How far would you go to rescue a loved one?
By: Nic Parker
5 out of 5 stars

The story Descent to Hell: How far would you go to rescue a loved one? By Nic Parker is a horror book. This is an amazing story and one I highly recommend to anyone who loves the horror genre. Yes, the story is scary and dark, however, it also has a human touch to it. It is all about how far the main character Charlie is willing to go in order to find and bring his niece, Suzie, home. Charlie’s character is one that you can easily identify with and will be rooting for him and his mission the entire way. While Charlie, at the beginning, may not seem the type of person who can survive a trip to Hell, you quickly learn that everyone seems to underestimate him. He would be the type of person I would want to rescue me. Along the way, Charlie meets several souls that help him in his quest. There is another side to the story as well. It has to do with Charlie’s sister, Pam. She is Suzie’s mother. There is an investigation into Suzie’s disappearance and the detective is bound and determined to solve it.

Once I started reading this book I found that I couldn’t stop. The underworld and the details in which it and the different characters that you meet there are so vivid that your imagination will go into overload. Every page that you turn in this story leads to another revelation. I found the ending came all too quickly. This is the first book I have read by this author and I can say that it will not be the last. I received a copy of this book and voluntarily reviewed it.

I do love a good horror/fantasy and Nic Parker certainly does not disappoint. Charlie is an excellent hero, and I never thought the day would come when I found myself rooting for Lucifer! But it shows the brilliance of the author's characterisation if she arouse sympathy and warmth to someone you are supposed to loathe and fear. The story moves along at a very brisk pace, and I really couldn't put it down, walking around in the kitchen trying to make supper whilst reading at the same time really isn't practical. The ending of the book suggests that there may be more. I really hope so. It is a pleasure to highly recommend this 5 star book. If this is a debut novel then we are in for a treat with what is yet to come.

This book appeals to me greatly.A horror story, set in hell, with Lucifer as a sophisticated man with a dry wit. What's not to like?
As a horror it didn't scare me, but told as the journey of Charlie, traipsing through hell to find his beloved Niece, going through and overcoming his worst nightmares in order to save her, it was a wonderfully written, amusing tale that had a healthy helping of dark comedy thrown in.
The author clearly has a talent for the fantastical, and a great ability to transform that to the written word. With an easy flowing style, it was an enjoyable read and one i'd recommend.
