Product Description

Dermot O’Leary joined BBC Radio 2 in September 2004, presenting a Saturday afternoon show called The Dermot O'Leary Show. A regular part of his show is the Saturday Sessions. These are live sessions in which a whole host of acts and bands perform both their own music and covers.
Dermot O’Leary now presents the Saturday Sessions album, packed full of live and acoustic performances from artists from Lily Allen, Paolo Nutini and Paloma Faith to Mumford & Sons, Amy Winehouse and Kasabian to Florence and The Machine and the Ting Tings. This album includes covers of classic tracks by the Beatles, Michael Jackson, Elvis Presley and many more, along with stripped back performances of current tracks.

Saturday seasons is just as good as the first and is a great album for the car - I think it is one of the best "various artist albums on the market" with some classic recordings, which can be better than the originals.

Really like this collection; crisp recording, diverse range of artists and a good mix of original songs and new takes on old classics. Well worth buying and good value.

I love this album - always a fan of stripped down "real" music, I find this is so good, and although I was not familiar with a lot of these artists have really enjoyed the whole album, just occasionally skipping over a song. Among faves are "The Pulse", Magic Numbers and, to my surprise, Will Young singing "Golden Slumbers". Also love "Back to Black" by Tom Baxter and....., well, most of them really. I am now going to order the first Saturday Sessions album. Nice one, Dermot!

Whilst most artists are fine & dandy as per...to go raw and sing covers now and then is refreshing. O'Leary knows this and to do his Saturday Sessions then share on a CD,well...it's the future and brings the humanity of the artist out to us the listener. Excellent album, and unlike most, only 3 songs don't belong...AND IT'S A DOUBLE CD!

i don't usually do reviews so forgive me if it's not very useful. i think this is probably the best compilation album for quite a time. i've played it a few times now and it definitely leaves you wanting more. many of the tracks are cover versions which can be a fairly mixed bag usually, but all of these are very, very good. i wouldn't normally listen to some of the artists included which makes it all the more enjoyable and surprising. it's very difficult to imagine a better collection, perfect for late night or lazy sundays. this is the second in the series and if the first is even better then that must be one hell of an album. try it you just might like it.

I am a huge fan of these types of albums and really enjoy their concept. Like the annual BBC Radio 1 'Live Longue' compilation series, the 'Dermot O'Leary' albums compile together some of the finest acoustic performances from top-class artists who have appeared on his popular radio show on BBC Radio 2. We hear what real talents these musicians are, and their voices taking centre stage, allowing their vocals to shine - just how real music should be really.

It's always a wonderful novelty to hear certain people cover other songs that one wouldn't normally associate with them, usually always with great success, and sometimes often superior version, results. As well as this, we also get to hear some artistes perform stripped-back performances of their own biggest hit single of the year, and it's great to hear them deliver that different spin. As all these songs are exclusive to the particular release, these CDs always offer up fantastic value for money, as well as a goldmine for music lovers.

This two-disc set was released in 2010, it was actually the second in the series, released three years after it's predecessor, and thankfully the sales were encouraging, because there has been one issued for every year since. My personal favourites of the two concepts here, are the interesting and varied covers, with a songs from all eras, and there are some real gems on this one.

I was listening to the Jeremy Vine show on radio 2 when he mentioned Dermot O Leary's Saturday Sessions, I thought it must be something to do with the X-factor, they seem to try and make money with every option open to them, so guess Dermot was having some of it to. I was wrong.

Jeremy Vine played Ellie Goulding - Jolene which was ORIGINALLY BY DOLLY PARTON, I thought wow that was good.
I went a hunting looking for the album and ordered this, which was well priced, not cheaper than other sites but there or there about.

There are so many good songs, I love the version by Athlete - Bulletproof , Ben's Brother - Poker Face and Alex Cornish - Brothers In Arms, brilliant

It is easy to compare it to the BBC live lounge, I have a couple which are good, this just has an edge in my opinion, maybe its just that I like the songs or may be it is recorded different.

Brilliant album well worth a try.

Fantastic album, brilliant mix of off the cuff, live and real earthy down to earth compilations of different songs, simple and easy to listen, a lot of heart and soul put into tracks without all the studio based mixing which can complicate tracks, Great buy.
