This bwwm romance is sizzling hot from beginning to end. I love the story of Kris and Travis and how an invitation to the Den of Sin is just the prelude to their life together. They've met before, but initially only Kristina remembers. It doesn't matter. Once Travis remembers her it only gets better. The story was beautifully written and illustrated how one night with the right one can change everything. It's a very sexy story and leisurely read. Loved it from start to finish. I'll definitely read more of Ms. kirk's books.
I'm use to Ambrielle Kirk's Caedmon Wolves Series, so Wicked Surrender was a little different for me, but just a little because the story is just as Erotic as anything of Ambrielle's that I have read. Minus the wolves of course, lol... I enjoyed reading Kris' and Travis' story. It was nice to know that he had been attracted to her even before her physical changes. The detailed Epilogue was a plus as well.
As I have come to realize with reading The Den of Sin series, there is equal parts of romance, exploration, and sizzling heat that all converge in a place where all of the inhibitions in life are left at the door. I hadn’t realized, however, just how insightful these books could be. Yes, I read for the scintillating, scorching, red hot passion but I got much more than I bargained for. The Den of Sin series was much more than a walk on the wild side- it was an exploration in the strength of the human spirit, of how we find ourselves through the darkness of adversity with the help of a guiding hand. It’s why I found Wicked Surrender, penned by the incomparable Ambrielle Kirk, so fascinating and enjoyable to read.
The story focuses on Kristina, a lawyer, who like everyone else, is seeking a weekend of simple debauchery without any commitment. Commitment is the last thing Kristina wants; after being cheated on by a former boyfriend, she throws herself in her work and in the process, finds herself little by little. Her outward appearance changes but it does little to change the doubts that still linger inwardly. She’s like a blossoming butterfly that doesn’t quite know that she can fly yet.
Travis has experienced his fair share of disappointments himself. A failed relationship has made him jaded, unwilling to give his heart to anyone despite the desire to finally settle down with a woman of worth. I instantly took a liking to Travis; although he’s all playboy on the outside, inwardly, he just wants the all-consuming love that would compel him to give his all to cultivate. When he and Kristina meet, the chemistry is instantaneous and it is highly apparent that whatever issues that stand between the two of them won’t last long. Wicked Surrender is aptly titled; the heat of each passionate embrace nearly burned through the page, with one particular interlude causing me to flip back the page to read over and over again. Ms. Kirk weaves a scorching tale of the beauty of second chances, especially when surrendering the ghosts of the past to the potential of the future.
