I am a huge fan of the Percy Jackson books and try to get my hands on anything that comes out that is related to it. So when I heard about this I knew I had to read it. This book contains 3 short stories, Luke and Thalia making their way to Camp Half Blood for the first time, Percy & Annabeth recovering a stolen item from a fire-brathing giant and then Leo, Piper and Jason trying to stop an explosion from destroying the camp.
Fans of the series will love this, it offers a deeper insight into the world and another side to some of the characters.
The stories are each about 20-30 pages and really get you hooked. This book also contains little quiz pages which include identifying the Gods by Greek and Roman names, anagrams, wordsearches and more. (I got this as a library book so couldn't write in it, and I don't like writing in books anyway but i did photocopy the wordsearches etc so I could do it)
This book also has one more thing in it - a short story written by Haley Riordan- Rick's son. This story isn't related to the main characters but you can see where it fits in and draws in some of the other storylines. For someone his age he has a great talent for writing and takes after his dad. The story really captured my imagination and it fit so well with the whole world of Percy Jackson.

This is a real delight for all fans and well worth getting a copy. I will be buying a copy I can keep. Just magical.

Review: I really like the Percy Jackson books and this was an interesting little addition. The stories were a bit longer and more involved than I had anticipated from an "extras" book like this and the story by Haley Riordan was really very good. I will definitely be keeping an eye out for any Haley Riordan books in the future and based on this effort I would be quite happy for him to take over the Olympus series if his Dad ever gets bored of it.
All in all this was a nice place holder for fans of the series waiting for the next book.

Favourite character: Percy Jackson

Favourite quote: "I gave her a smile that I hoped conveyed something like: Hey, you know I'm on your side. Gods are such jerks! But what can you do? Probably my expression actually conveyed: It's not my fault! Please do not kill me!"

It explains things like how Thalia got her shield and how clumsy Hermes is over all brilliant book it links things all together and its cool how rick let his own son write a part of the book to show how talented some younge writers are. I loved it!:-)

With a couple of new short stories of Percy s`adventures and puzzles to solve plus a guide to the gods both Greek and Roman and interviews from other characters, a good book to have as a guide.

A good addition to the series.

This book was an amazing extra to the Percy Jackson series. The stories are quite short and simple, yet with Rick Riordan' s mastermind, you couldn't wish for anything more. I am very impressed with Haley Riordan' s story at the end. I will definitively look out for books by him in the future!

Another set of short stories, in this series Rick Riordan continues to join the Greek and Roman camps in one book. Each story focuses on individual characters before they all meet up in the "Mark of Athena". My son really enjoys Rick Riordan books, the only critism he gave was that he did not enjoy the short story that was published by his son.
