Proust is a world literary figure who does not need any endorsement by me as to his place in the novelist, philosopher firmament.

His work is profound, made all the more palatable on a long journey by the excellence of my new Kindle and by me not having to lug heavy volumes around as I travel the country.

Moreover, the sheer cost effectiveness of the total deal made everything all the more enjoyable. Had I known this as fact I would have jumped on this configuration a lot earlier than 2012.

It's very good to have both the original and the translation all in the same package at such a cheap price. The one drawback is that the Scott-Moncrieff translation is a bit dated but that doesn't worry me, and if that is the way around copyright problems, so be it. For a lover of Proust who wants to dip in anywhere and at anytime, this is just the thing.

I am so pleased to see the complete novel for the Kindle, as translated by C.K. Scott Moncrieff.
My six paperback tomes are the Vintage Classics edition: Enright's revision of Kilmartin's revision of Moncrieff's translation, and I've never liked the mishmash that these two worthies inflicted on the original translation. They would have been better off translating from scratch, in my humble opinion, or letting Old Uncle Tom Cobley and All have a bash at revision too.
Well done, Delphi.

This is the complete "À la recherche du temps perdu " by Proust in both English and French plus some other French writing. Several years reading for £1.49. With this value there's no excuse for not giving this immense work a try. It's a bit odd but engrossing.

I have to admit I was drawn to this author because he featured in a Monty Python sketch [about a summarising Proust competition]
It took most of the first book to adjust to the style, but now I am hooked. I would normally wait until I have finished reading the whole book before giving a review - but it might be some time before I get to the end.
