You would think that text is far, far too small to read, but, it's not as the 23" size makes up for the high resolution (2048 x 1152).

There are two side USB ports which is also great but what 'really' made the price worth every penny for me, was running Supreme Commander 2 at the above resolution. Insane.

The Dell replaced a solide Viewsonic VA2226w and although I really did like that monitor, having two pages side by side really helps, especially if you're running an SLI rig (Which when SLI is enabled, you can only connect one screen)

Overall, buy it :)

As someone who spends their time on their computer, and uses it for almost everything, i was in the need for a high quality PC monitor.

My research had lead me to Dell, having been told time and time again their panels are some of the best on the market.
The highlights were a pleasure to read: 2ms response time, above HD resolution panel, height adjustment with tilt and rotation all built into the stand and a nice and high dynamic contrast (which does not really mean anything in the long run). The looks are fairly industrial and blocky, but that is not a negative in itself.

I ordered it and i have owned it for about a month now, my experience is a mixed one but overall positive.
Setting it up was a breeze, it came ready setup and all that it required you to do was plug it in.
I used it as the 3rd monitor in my multi-monitor setup, so i never really put it through anything serious. A little video and some picture editing and internet browsing.

Recently i have moved to a new place for the next few months and i could only bring back one monitor, so i choose this.
At first, i was rather let down. The color looked washed out and rather brown all over.
I also experienced problems using the DVI, i connected it to my PC and it just would not play games.
A swtich to HDMI and it will worked well again, still with color problems.
I then went through the settings and tweaked with the settings and after a few minutes i was able to bring some life out of the display and games, videos, movies and browsing were instilled with breath taking color, contrast and clarity.

I am really pleased with this monitor, and at this price it is a great all purpose monitor.
All it needed was a little tuning and it was turned from a good monitor into a great monitor
I am going to get three of these and do some Nvidia Surround magic...all in above HD

Disappointed with physical design

Can't fault the picture and features of this monitor but I was disappointed with the physical aspects of it, in particular the stand, which is stuck at a 45 deg. angle, so you can't straighten it up vertical. Thus I couldn't have the monitor flush up against the wall on my desk and the screen protrudes out about 20cm from the wall. I don't have much room on my desk so this was important to me and had to send it back.

Great Monitor for the price

I don't write many reviews but felt compelled to write about just how good this monitor is for the price. I wanted a larger monitor to replace my trusty but venerable 19" Samsung Syncmaster 913n and had agonised for weeks over the choice available. As well as normal desktop work (Not graphics or photography) I wanted a fast response times for games and a half-decent viewing angle as I also wanted to watch movies from a sofa about 3 metres away.

I had read a lot about TN panels and poor viewing angles and was agonising over whether to pay the (considerable)extra for a PVA or IPS monitor - but in the end took the gamble and my fears were unfounded. Yes - there is some colour change when viewing from above or below but only from quite considerable angles; from left to right the display remains very consistent - far better than my Samsung. Watching movies from a distance and a little below the monitor is no problem at all.

The display is very bright and clear; I was actually quite happy with the default settings out of the box but there are plenty of presets and adjustments - including getting rid of the annoying button beeps that are on by default - and the OSD is very pleasant to use. Desktop work and web browsing is a joy, my games look fantastic and movies are very good too - there is a small amount of backlight bleed at the bottom of the monitor but no more than you would expect from a monitor at this price and certainly not intrusive. Oh, and no dead or bright pixels either.

The stand is very adjustable and the ability to fold the monitor back flat is actually surprisingly useful when connecting cables. On that subject one of my only gripes being that the supplied video and USB cables were a little on the short side - no problem if your monitor is right next to your computer but a consideration if like me your computer is on the floor next to a fairly tall desk. Easily rectified of course if you're prepared to buy replacement cables. My only other complaint is that while the glossy black finish is gorgeous to look at it's an absolute dust and fingerprint magnet - you'll be doing a lot of cleaning if you want it to stay looking nice! Other than that thoroughly recommended if you're looking for a good all-rounder 23-24" monitor for around the £200 mark.
