I love it when a book pulls me in from the very first sentence and before I know it I am halfway through the book and that is what happened when I started reading this book I got so engrossed in the story I couldn't believe it when I came to the end of it but I wasn't disappointed I am looking forward to book two .

I received a free copy for an honest review

I wasn't really sure what to make of this book but I did really like the characters hence the 4 stars. Bexley is out at a party with her bestfriend Ember when she first meets Zeke. She's just fled her life and is looking to start afresh, and a man like Zeke was not meant to be a part of it. But men like Zeke always get what they want.

He demands her submission and never promises forever. Bexley knows he isn't good for her, that he will only break her heart but convincing her head and her heart to be on the same page is proving difficult. Both of them will hurt the other, their secrets and lies will threaten their relationship, but will they find each other again once it's over?

If you enjoy hearts and flowers types of romances this isn't the book for you. If you like your books with a dark possessive male lead then you're in the right place. Zeke is controlling and in the beginning rather cold which of course is where some of their troubles stem from. Bexley is a strong heroine who doesn't back down easily and it's only towards the end of the book you really see who she truly is.

My only issue with this book was with each chapter it felt more like you were getting another segment of their story rather than a flowing continuation of their lives. It took me a while to get into it and get my head around the structure but I found myself enjoying the story more towards the end, right when the drama started. A handsome bad boy and some crazy friends like Aria made this a great 4 star read!

~*~ Obsessed by Books copy given in exchange for an honest review ~*~

"Say it because you want me to be your last breath. Say it because I'm all you see. Say it because I'm in you, I'm stuck to your soul. Say it to me like you mean it, not to make yourself feel good."

Who is Bexley? A vibrant head strong woman that walks away from a perfect partner as she feels that essential spark is absent to make a new life for herself, starting again away from her past and family. And yet she quickly hands over her determination for something better when Zeke chooses her to be his. Giving herself over completely to the enigma that is Zeke, Bexley seems to fall under his spell completely. Trying valiantly to adhere to his rules she becomes the perfect Stepford Wife, a chef in the kitchen and a working whore pretty much anywhere Zeke wants it! Her heart is exposed and she keeps mainly inline with his vision of an ideal girlfriend. Slowly pushing the boundaries of their relationship who will break first?

Zeke is a cold hearted man, toying with woman, using them, breaking them and degrading them until nothing is left. His own personal game as he feels incapable of that elusive emotion. Powerful, wealthy and respected in his vast circle of peers Zeke is a mystery. Head of his own organisation the truth of who and what he is becomes cleverly revealed, stripping back the layers as the plot twists and passions ignite. Can he accept Bexley may be the instrument of his downfall and his saviour? Or will his nature to destroy and own crush her completely?

Degrade is a stand alone. Written in a blunt and harsh manner I'm the style of the main character Zeke, I loved the shadows and secrets that haunted their feelings for one another.

Well I ain't gonna lie you will hate zeke in first half of this book. He's a full blown douche!!
Then the tides change and holy moly you have one hot alpha chasing Bexley.
But before you get to that you have a screwed up twist that I honestly didn't see coming. I knew there was more to Bexley after a while but I wasn't expecting that bombshell!!
Loved this book and need more from Bexley and Zeke.
Another epic book from T.L Smith

Reviewed for Klaire’s Kollection, Gifted – 4 stars
Gah….this author gets my knickers in a twist every time she writes something. I have such a love/hate relationship going on here!! I really like her work, the way TL writes, but every time I can’t help but poke holes in the story. I hate doing that, and it’s nothing personal. I just think that this good author has so much potential to be a great author. She’s almost there every time. Her stories have uniqueness about them but sadly sometimes the execution feels shoddy and rushed. I struggled a little with about the first 40% of this book but then the game changed and I kept asking myself why it couldn’t have been like that right from the beginning. By 40% I’ve usually switched off if I’m not feeling it, but at times (especially for review) I’ll dig my heels in and continue, this was what I did here. The second half of the book was quite enthralling but didn’t quite marry up with the beginning.
The character development was decent enough, TL Smith always gives interesting characters in whatever she writes. But…yes, there’s a BUT…I was not a fan of Zeke. Actually I wasn’t really a fan of Bexley. Many of their actions were extremely questionable and I found them both quite cold. Neither had qualities that made me like them all that much. There’s a couple of twist entwined within the big plot twist that do throw the reader for a loop. That was interesting and I wasn’t entirely sure I saw it coming. I enjoyed the gradual build-up of emotional content though; the author did really well with that.
This is a hard book for me to rate, I did eventually find it a bit of a page turner but again, it wasn’t without its faults. If you haven’t read any of TL Smith’s work you won’t be familiar with her style so this might come across as a little confusing. May even be worthy of a re-read. I’ll continue with this author as no matter how frustrated I am, I always come away with a good enough read.
