Product description

Review

"Meg Jay takes the specific complaints of twentysomething life and puts them to diagnostic use" (New Yorker)

"Any recent college graduate mired in a quarter-life crisis or merely dazed by the freedom of post-collegiate existence should consider it required reading" (Slate)

"I strongly recommend The Defining Decade for anyone in their 20s trying to figure out their life's direction. You'll learn how to search productively, how to avoid being indulgent, and how to turn good opportunities into great ones" (Po Bronson author of What Should I Do With My Life?)

"The Defining Decade is the book twentysomethings have been waiting for. It will not tell you what you should do with your life, but it will inspire, motivate, and educate you to figure it out" (Rachel Simmons author of The Good Girl)

"The Defining Decade is eye-opening, important, and a pleasure to read. I highly recommend it" (Wendy Mogel author of The Blessing of a Skinned Knee and The Blessing of a B Minus)

I bought this book, read it in 2 days, then bought another copy and had it sent directly to my best friend's house. I think it should be compulsory reading when you turn 20. It's a really encouraging and helpful look at emerging adulthood. It's inspiring without being condescending, and I've been quoting it for several weeks to anyone who will listen.

This book is really great, it might state some obvious point but at the same time opens you eye on life. Because so often when we are young we loose track and we believe that we still got load of time!

Having been one of those "oh it's fine, I'll just wing it" and "life happens later" types of people but fortunate enough to have made some of the right choices, this book has given me a lot of food for thought and I truly recommend it to any twentysomething or parent/family member/friend/boss of a twentysomething who seems a little aimless, directionless or unsure.

Ours is a generation that struggles with an unusual amount of sadness/depression/self comparison, this book explores why in a format that is case study based though written as if a friend were telling you over coffee.

I did enjoy this book and found it interesting, I just got a bit of a feeling the message is getting married, having kids, and having a great job are the only things that really matter or should matter, but I really enjoyed the part about working towards the career you want in your early 20s! It's given me motivation and a boost!!
