First time I have read one by this author and I felt mislead after downloading.

For me it seemed in the sample this was going to be a good gangster novel, the first part into the novel (sample) is brilliant. It's full of suspension, assumptions, the characters seem really interesting and likeable. As soon as I downloaded this novel it seemed to change storyline. It became a cheap version of fifty shade for me. The two main characters had no connection, it was forced, it had so may similar features to all the other copy cats of 50 shades. These areas were so dragged out I started to skim read then gave up finishing the novel. If this hadn't of turned into a cheap 50 shades and stuck to the real storyline then it would of had the potential to be a fabulous novel. I just felt let down and mislead once I had downloaded. Hence I won't read another from this author until I read real reviews not people quoting the blurb.

I love Skye Warren's writing style and I admit I prefer her 'darker' works. Deep isn't really 'dark' but nearly.

Whilst I hadn't read the other 'Chicago' books - Deep was easy to follow. Although characters from previous books made an appearance, they complimented the story not confused it.

Deep is just that - emotionally deep. The two main characters Philip (yum) and Ella are not easy. Skye Warren makes them breathe, hurt and love. This book will pull you in and keep you.

Not sure where to start reviewing this book except to stay I loved it. Phillip is a very complex man who seems to be without moral compass or is he, then we have Ella who just wants to be loved and accepted by her family despite eveything they do. They meet, fall in love and live happily ever after NOT, the story is much more complex than that, it will challenge your perceptions about right and wrong, love and hate, life and death, read it, it will be worth your time.

This is the first book I have read by Skye Warren, but I have always been tempted, especially with the Chicago Underground series' blurbs. This book can be read as a standalone, and I did myself, so I can confirm that you will still love and understand it fully, though you will find yourself questioning how you stayed away so long and what you are going to do with your newfound Skye Warren addiction.

This book was brilliant. Absolutely drop dead gorgeous, steaming hot, full of angst brilliance. I really enjoyed every page of it, and found it beyond hard to put down. Once I finished, I rushed off to grab the rest of the series because I needed more.

The characters are created so extraordinarily well. Each one is given the detail and personality needed to really being both themselves and this story to life. It was a very grounded, real read and needed characters that were able to be just that. Each was believable and true, so that you were able to connect with them and grow to love of hate them.

The mains were brilliant. They really brought the story together and created just the spark that was needed to really make this book one that I couldn't put down. They were made for each other, even if they didn't want it or didn't know it. From the beginning you could feel the tension and attraction rising between them and wanted to see it happen.

I loved the pace of the book, as it really matched the storyline. It gave way to passion and tense action moments, where we were able to have that pushed by adrenaline feeling. I liked that and though it really added to the attractiveness of the read.

Overall, I thought this was excellent. As mentioned, I have now gone on to grab more from this author and will continue to do so. I recommend giving the series a go, this book in particular.

**I received this book for free in exchange for my honest and unbiased opinion.

Well I could say many things about this book but I will narrow it down to a few when I initially say dang!
Philip Murphy might have controlled his surroundings and ruled with an absolute power but was his world being infiltrated?
Was it about to fall apart around him and will it take him down with him! Not if he has anything to do with it.
His life in the darkest recesses of the underworld means that he has more enemies than any one person could possibly ever count and he is not shy at flexing his acquired might!
Ella owes much of her life and who she is, to Philip and while she appreciated everything that he has done for her in the past, he belongs in her past, she is trying to build a life for herself now and it is one that she is trying to shape without him in it but when he turns up at her door, it is his turn to need her help and as much as the tables may have been turned but it is like a switch, she is powerless when it comes to how she feels about him.
Philip is a prime alpha male, he holds her emotionally captive so to speak, he oozes sensuality and his possessiveness knows no restraint, he will stop at nothing to get what he wants, the way he wants it!
But it was Elle that I enjoyed reading about, she was such a strong character, one that I felt as if I was experiencing every emotion with, every step of the way. She left me drained on so many occasions, I was aghast at how strong she must have been because I was struggling to get my head around everything that she was going through.
This was a book that left nothing to chance, no stone unturned and no nerve un-stretched…this author is able to draw drama from every orifice and you never know which way the story is headed. There are twists and turn aplenty, enough to make your head spin.
