Why We Need Wi-Fi 6 in 6 GHz Band?

Opening the 6 GHz band will change the game for Wi-Fi 6. Wi-Fi 6 brings about upgraded performance in network efficiency and capacity. Whereas the advantages of Wi-Fi 6 are not fully realized while competing with transmissions from Wi-Fi 5 (or other radios). Wi-Fi 6E allows for 7 additional 160 MHz channels that double bandwidth. Access to the 6 GHz frequency brings more bandwidth, faster speeds, and lower latency, opening up resources for future innovations like in AR/VR, 8K streaming and more.

Coverage in All the Right Places

Deco XE75 Pro eliminates weak signal areas with clearer, stronger whole-home Wi-Fi generated by BSS (Base Service Station) Coloring and Beamforming technologies as the Wi-Fi dead zone killer. Thus, there will be no more searching around for a stable connection.

    Future-Proofing your Wifi
This is an overdue review of this mesh system…..I’ve been eyeing this product for over 8 months and spent a lot of time reviewing YouTube videos of this product and decided out of the blue to purchase it when on sale and at the same time I upgrade my ISP to Gigabit Wifi.I’m well versed with TP Link deco’s/App as I started with M4 to X20, X60 and now XE75Pro. Two years ago of moving into a 3 bed house my WiFi requirements have changed (more wireless devices being added to my network) and if anyone knows your average router from your ISP aren’t the best when it comes to WiFi coverage. I purchased the pack of 3 to cover a 3 bed house. When opening the box you’re greeted with all 3 Deco’s nice placed in the box and the power cables and Ethernet cables underneath. My main Deco sits on top of my TV Cabinet (not the best place due to interference but will discuss later on how to get past that). I have the second one placed in the kitchen and the third in the home office (as I work from home and wanted excellent coverage in this room). The minute you complete first setup of the main Deco all your wireless devices attach to the one Deco and couldn’t believe how many wireless there are! When you add the other Deco’s my wireless devices automatically attached itself to the nearest Deco. Once that was completed I started running Speed Test in various parts of my house and couldn’t believe. On the 2.4/5GHZ bands (wireless) I was getting between 700mb to 900mb (iPhone 14Pro Max) on the ground floor and First Floor. On the 6GHZ, I’m getting 1.3GB download on the ground and first floor (which is insane!) All my devices on for the TV are hardwired/Ethernet and purchased a 16 Port POE a while and this connects my TV, Xbox Series X, Apple TV, FireStick, Phillips Hue Bridge and a Hive Bridge (I’ve learnt that Ethernet is best way to get the full download speed from your ISP as you don’t want your WiFi congested but if it is, with the Deco app you can rescan your WiFi and change channels).2 Months past (Christmas, New Years, In-Laws staying over and joining the WiFi and over 50 wireless on the network) and the WiFi coverage is stronger than my past Deco’s as previously experiencing issues with my Ring Door Bell (I was in PC World returning a product and actually answered the Ring Door Bell and the Post Man heard me clear as day, this I hadn’t been able to do properly for about 8 months but this Deco you have no issues with any Ring devices (but beware Ring only use the 2.4and 5GHZ bands) at all with coverage but I started to notice WiFi interference because of where the Main Deco sits as I found myself rescanning channels weekly. Back again to researching (YouTube) why I’m getting WiFi interference and came to the conclusion it’s the Ethernet Cables, they’re unshielded!Deco provided Cat 6 cables and these are fine as its perfect with everyday usage of internet but to the placement of my Main Deco there’s interference from the Smart TV. To combat this I purchased Cat 8 Ethernet cables (2 of them, one to run from my ISP Router to the Main Deco and the other from the Main Deco to my 16 Port POE, which was £19 for the pair from Urgreen Via Amazon. Some people will say this overkill as I’m not running multiple server’s etc but I needed it for the shielded component). I replaced these 2 cables from TP Link’s to Urgreen’s Cat 8 shielded cables and the Main Deco had a little bit of an error moment as it was stabilising itself. Running these Cat 8 Ethernet Cables I’m able to take advantage of the 2.5GB Port at the back of my ISP Router and the Main Deco. My internet is a lot more stable, responsive and snappier. My download speed on the Ground Floor is 900+ MB (wireless), Hardwired still 1.3GB. On the First Floor 700 to 800MB (wireless), 900+MB hardwired and haven’t had to rescan and change channels (I’m thinking of upgrading the Ethernet cables around my TV area to either Cat. 7 or Cat8).In conclusion…this product future-proofs your WiFi (The next Deco from this is WiFi 7 and that 10GB and 2.5GB ports, Gigabit isn’t everywhere in UK) as some wireless devices coming out now can use that 6GHZ band (could you imagine getting Gigabit speeds on your mobile device. There is one downside to this product, the Deco’s use the 6GHZ band to communicate to each other and you can have them far part or it’ll start flashing red due to loss of signal (I will pick up the pack of 2 when on sale adding 2 Deco’s on each floor provided complete coverage over my house. This product is worth it if your paying for 500MB to 1GB WiFi as you want to take full advantage to what your paying for.Update: Depending on the size of your place you can have no more than 6 Deco’s in total (including Main Deco) due to the Main Deco cannot communicate properly between other decos and will lose connection/control via the Deco App.

I've been a long-time user of the TP-Link Deco system, and the Deco XE75 Pro has solidified my trust in their products. It offers an outstanding balance between performance and price, making it a perfect upgrade for anyone seeking improved network performance without breaking the bank.

      Why I Upgraded
I chose this model to enhance my internal backhaul speeds, especially for data movement to my home NAS. While I considered the newer 7G systems, this option provided a significant performance boost at a fraction of the cost. It also saved me from the hassle and expense of installing Ethernet cabling throughout my home—a win for both my budget and convenience.

      Performance and Coverage
The improvement in speed and reliability has been remarkable. The mesh system effortlessly covers my 12+ room house, ensuring no dead spots and consistently strong connections. Internal data transfer speeds are incredibly fast, making tasks like NAS backups a breeze. The system integrates seamlessly with my existing Deco devices, creating a unified and efficient network.

      App and Features
The TP-Link app is straightforward and functional, handling essential tasks like setup and device management with ease. However, it could benefit from more advanced controls, such as manually assigning devices to specific nodes. While this lack of customization can be mildly frustrating, it doesn’t overshadow the product’s overall reliability and bulletproof performance.

      Verdict
The TP-Link Deco XE75 Pro delivers excellent coverage, fast internal speeds, and reliable operation, all at a price that feels more than fair. If you're looking to upgrade your home network without venturing into the premium price bracket, this is a fantastic choice. Despite some app limitations, the product excels where it matters most, making it a worthy investment for any connected household.

      Here's my setup:
      - Gaming PC with Sunshine game streaming
      - TP Link Deco XE75 Pro AXE5400 (the product I'm reviewing)
      - WiFi 6E device with Moonlight installed (in my case, the Steam Deck OLED)

My home network is mostly 1 gigabit ethernet, but my gaming PC has a 2.5 gigabit ethernet socket, which I hooked up straight to the living room XE75 node.

Installation was pretty straightforward. I bought a 3 pack of XE75s, which I replaced with my old Deco M4s. The replacement process was a little annoying; it kept saying it had failed to transfer my settings to a new main node, but then when I actually checked my network the new node had been registered correctly. So functionally it worked, but the user journey is pretty poor. I expect if you're buying this as a brand new mesh network you're going to have no issues, as the setup of the M4s I bought several years ago was perfect.

After all the nodes were installed, I created a separate 6ghz WiFi network exclusively for game streaming devices (in this case, the Steam Deck OLED). As I mentioned above, the gaming PC's 2.5ghz ethernet was wired to the node's 2.5ghz ethernet socket so the PC had a direct connection to the WiFi node I'd be streaming from.

I installed Sunshine streaming on my gaming PC (though I imagine Steam Link will also work fine - I just wanted more control over the bitrate), and Moonlight on my Steam Deck.

On the Steam Deck, I can essentially max out the bitrate and get a perfect 800p stream from my gaming PC to the Deck. This is overkill, but possible.

I put the Deck and my TV (that the PC is hooked up to) side by side and compared lag, and it was nonexistent. Maybe an extremely slight delay that may impact you if you're playing a lag sensitive game (like a fighting game), but for 99% of games out there you won't even notice it. In fact, you'd probably get more lag playing a game at 30fps natively on the Deck or a games console versus the full 90fps that my PC can stream to the Deck at.

Image quality is like I'm playing the game natively. No compression artefacts to speak of. Crystal clear. All this while I've got my PC downloading in the background, since the game streaming connection doesn't saturate the bandwidth between my PC and the living room XE75 Deco like it did on my old setup.

When I play in a different room with one of the other nodes, I'm limited by 1 gigabit ethernet backhaul, so I need to pause downloads on my PC, but the quality is otherwise just as good. If I improve my wired network switches around my home I can fix this issue, but that's not a fault with this product.

As the 6ghz WiFi network is on a separate SSID to the 2.4ghz and 5ghz network, all the other network devices are separate from the streaming client so I don't share WiFi bandwidth with other devices like smartphones and laptops, which sometimes caused lag or bitrate issues on my old setup.

The long and short is I can stream a PC game at full bitrate over WiFi 6E and get essentially native-looking and feeling results without any interference from other devices.

If you've got a bit of a niche use-case like me, this product does exactly what I needed it to. And frankly, if it can do what I need, it can probably meet your needs to.

Easy to set up and look OK (no spikey ariels). The units themselves are quite chunky but very light. Don't stand out sitting on a shelf in any room.

Connectivity is OK but only one 2.5gb ethernet port. This is OK if you are using wireless backhaul but limiting when you hard wire.

I found speeds a little disappointing when using wireless backhaul, both general and dedicated 6E. Struggled to get 300mbs in the same room as the satellite router. It's was perfectly stable though.
I chose to hard wire between the routers and free up the 6E band for general use. Much better, easily hitting 800+ Mb in the same room and much less drop off throught the house.

The App is nice. Easy to see what's on your network and which unit they are attached to. Some settings are a bit buried but if you know enough about networking to be looking at something like this it's not going to be a problem.

Overall great unit for the price, especially if hard wired. If you have broadband over 1gb though the single 2.5gb port will bottleneck you.
