In this imaginative follow up to the classic Tecmo title 'Devil's Deception', first released in 1996 on the PlayStation, players can get a taste of what it's like to play on the side of evil. Much like its predecessors, Deception IV: Blood Ties is a strategy focused action game revolving around a deceitful main character known as the Devil's daughter who, assisted by three Daemons, defeats her foes through trickery. Deception IV follows the story of Laegrinna, an animated fragment of an imprisoned Devil's soul, as she battles her enemies by mischievously luring them into strategically placed traps. From rolling boulders and spiked walls to spring boards, Iron Maidens, human cannons, falling bathtubs and banana peels, the player can choose from a multitude of dramatic, sadistic, and comical traps in order to finish off an enemy. Setting traps is not enough though, as they need to be activated in turn. Timing also plays an important role, as an untimely activation could result in Laegrinna falling into her own trap or allow her rivals to catch up her. Depending on the manner an enemy is killed or captured the Devil's three servants: Veruza, Caelea and Lilia (each representing a different aspect of cruelty: Sadistic Torment, Elaborate Death and Humiliating Demise) reward points and upgraded traps.

This game is worth a look if you have played and liked the previous Deception games. It's also worth a look if you're after something a little but different and requires different skill to other 3RD person games.
The concept is really very simple. You have a range of buildings/locations, each with their own peculiar hazards (huge spinning gears, pits of molten metal, a roller-coaster, etc, etc, etc.) In addition, you have a wide range of traps of various sorts (they fall into three categories - sadistic (blades, and buzzsaws, and spikes, oh my!), humiliating (too funny to spoil), and 'elaborate'.)
The good guys come in to the location to hunt you down, and you... deal with them. Usually this means an unfortunate demise, but you can also take some of them captive for extra points, and and occasional coward will loose heart and escape (unless you stop them first)
More successes unlock better, funnier, and upgraded traps. Also some useful spells and abilities.
Some of your foes will have heavy armour and/or special capabilities, and be immune to certain types of trap. Bummer. On the other hand, if you can hit them with the right combination of traps, finishing with a mid-air strike of some type, you can shatter their armour clean off, taking away their immunity to traps (and leaving them in their skivvies - now THAT's embarrassing)
All great fun, and at the current price of around twelve quid, they're practically giving it away for free.
Recommended, if you're tired of playing as 'Mr Nice Guy'.
I thought this would only be for the 1st tutorial, but no. I was 4 levels into the game when I stopped.
Save your money. Don't buy.
