After her affair with Quinn, Monica is trying to make things work with Alex. Just when they thought the past was behind them, they run into Quinn, and all the emotions come flooding back for them: hurt and betrayal for Alex, love and desire for Monica. This time, Alex leaves after seeing a glimpse of what his wife really feels for another man. Monica eventually finds herself in Quinn’s arms again, but can she get over Alex? Can she make this relationship with Quinn work after everything that has happened? And when she finds out Quinn’s secret, will she be able to accept it?
December Rain is a completely different book than August Fog. The sneaking around and fear of getting caught is gone. Now these two lovers must try to make their love last even with all the baggage they both carry. With all the differences between the two books, I still equally loved this one just as much as I did the first one, which is saying a lot (I have been borderline obsessed with August Fog ever since I read it). We get to see more of Quinn and a deeper side to his and Monica’s relationship. Don’t get me wrong; the intensity and excitement that they have had from the beginning is still there, maybe even more so. But, there is so much more than that. What I really enjoyed in this book is that even though they clearly desire each other, their relationship is not just about sex; there is also a deep love there that continues to grow and is absolutely evident now.
The direction that this story has taken in both August Fog and in December Rain is completely realistic. These characters clearly have flaws. They aren’t perfect. Alex betrayed Monica, and she hasn’t been able to trust him since. Having an affair and falling in love with Quinn wasn’t planned, and she didn’t want to hurt her husband, but it happened. I think her confusion, her back-and-forth decisions, and her love for these two men couldn’t be more real. Monica has made mistakes, and she may have hurt people along the way, but I respect and admire her so much because all she has done is follow her heart. She obviously loves Alex and also loves Quinn, but her love for each of them is completely different. It has been so enjoyable to follow her along this journey of figuring out who she is and who she belongs with.
I cannot thank A.L. Goulden enough for writing this fantastic story. It has become my favorite series for so many reasons, but the main reason is that these characters are real to me. Goulden has brought these characters to life in a way that many authors are unable to do. I feel so invested in their lives, and I care so much about what happens to them. I’m not looking forward to this story ending.
Just like August Fog, December Rain had me feeling so many emotions; tears were shed, fists were clenched, and many smiles were spread. I cannot wait for the next book in the series. Until then, I will be happily rereading the first two.
Monica and her husband Alex are trying to hold onto their marriage after each of their extramarital affairs. While Monica and Alex are on vacation, they are surprised by the sudden appearance of Quinn. Quinn Matthews is the person Alex hates most and the man Monica can’t forget. After seeing how Monica and Quinn look at each other, Alex realizes he will never fully have Monica’s heart. After Alex moves out, Monica’s friends devise a night out to drown her sorrows. Monica drinks entirely too much and she proceeds to act like a slutty teenager! Her actions alienate her friends and she wakes up on Quinn’s couch. Now, the time she spends with Quinn is explosive!! Off the charts hot! Quinn is deeply in love with Monica. And where she is damaged emotionally, he is self-assured and strong. He believes in their love and their future. He wants to share his life with her. But because nothing is perfect…..Quinn has a secret. And instead of telling Monica, she finds out on her own. Monica has a very hard time with trust. Will she be able to look past his lies?
This book does end in a major cliffhanger! And even though I wanted to slap Monica for a lot of her actions I still loved this book. I’m really looking forward to the next installment. I hope they find their forever love!! We will just have to wait and see.
Highly recommend……4 stars!

The naughtiness is pretty high in this book so be prepared for either covering your eyes or enjoying yourself thoroughly (wink). I enjoyed this emotional and sometimes painful to read novel. The inside look into Monica's relationships was intriguing. This is book 2 of a series, but is written so it can be a stand alone. I definitely would recommend it.
**I was given a copy of this book by the publisher in exchange for my honest and fair review**
Quinn is Monica's rock and his love for her is unconditional. Their passion for each other is scorchingly hot both in and out of the bedroom. Quinn wants Monica to be happy and he does everything in his power to make her feel loved and accepted, by treating her with respect and dignity. They have a lot of fun together, exploring former haunts through each others eyes, spending time with family during Christmas, and experiencing a unique form of dinner theater on New Year's Eve. Due to both internal and external factors, their relationship is stormy yet workable.
Overall, I liked this novel. It is an adult love story that kept me engaged from beginning to end. Both the primary and secondary characters are well-defined and interesting. Although I did not read the first book from the series, I did not feel lost in anyway while reading book two. Naturally, I have put the first book, August Fog, on my TBR list.
