I enjoyed the book and had a fun time trying to figure out "whodunit". Olivia's "alter ego", Rose, was a very clever way to frame Olivia's and Andrew's relationship. Being an animal lover I especially liked the role the dogs played in the book.
Olivia is a very spirited person and I appreciate that she doesn't give up! I'm looking forward to the next book and spending time with Olivia and her family & friends.
I had a love/hate relationship with this book. I found some of the supporting characters annoying, and the name of the town put me off – every time I saw “Lexingburg,” I read it as “Lexington” and I had to correct myself. And I first found Olivia slightly irritating – mostly because she kept letting other people run all over her. But then, by the end of the book, she started to grow a spine and stick to her guns, which made me like her. Plus, the author had great descriptions of the dogs Olivia walked (and I’m a sucker for anything dog-related), and the wedding details, both pluses. And the snippets quoted from the mysteries Olivia was so fond of reading were entertaining.
I thought I’d figured out who dunnit midway through, but I was surprised by the ending. The ending is a little abrupt, but it sets the stage for book 3 in the series. I missed out on reading book 1 of this series, but I wasn’t too lost by starting with book 2. I could tell things had happened previously, but the author wove them in subtly, which made this book more enjoyable.
I received an Advanced Reader Copy of this book because I agreed to proof read for the author. I failed miserably at that task because time got away from me and I blew the deadline. I also bought my own copy, however, because I decided on balance, I like Olivia and had I come across this elsewhere, it’s something I would have purchased anyway. Now I just have to get books 1 and 3 so I can see where she started and where she ends up.
