I really loved this. It was a fantastic story and I could not put it down. I've read quite a few 'rock star' romance stories now, but this was easily one of the best I've read
It was set in the 1980s which had great nostalgia value for me and it really made for a different story. There was lots going on, and the secrets were revealed bit by bit, maintaining my interest right up until the end.
The best thing about this book though was the relationship between Sara and the talented and very gorgeous wannabe rock star Dale Diamond. It built up and built up and when they finally got together, it was deliciously steamy.
I also loved her obsession with the rock star Tyler Vincent. This had the capacity to be fluffy and daft, but actually it lent real depth to the story. Dare I say it, I think there's plenty of potential for a sequel for this book.
I can't wait to read more from this author, very highly recommended for anyone who likes rock star romances, the 1980s or for anyone who has ever been obsessed with a rock star...
The characters were juvenile and the setting was juvenile. It felt almost like the academy was an excuse to write your typical YA school drama but have an excuse to add lots of graphic sex. New Adult, I think NOT.
Sara was a little bit stir-crazy. Well, more than a little. She'd doodles on her notebook Sara loves Vincent like an obsessed 12 year old. Only she's not an obsessed 12 year old. She's an obsessed adult who's borderline stalker with her plans to get close to the ageing rockstar. It's kinda no wonder she failed high-school, drama the previous year aside.
And drama. Wowsers. Hand some drama to an overexcited fan-fic writer and something like this is what you'll end up with. There's a bit of every fan-fic cliché in this.
This ended exactly was I predicted, a little too perfect and happily-ever-after for me. And that was probably what really annoyed me the most. The predictability of the whole story. It made Sara seem even more thick-as-a-plank.
This story had it all.. hot male, sexy female , wonderful secondary characters & of a course a brilliant storyline.
This author sucked me right in & I devoured this book.
I so NEED to read more from this author.

This is a refreshing take on the New Adult/Rockstar genre, offering something a little different from the usual college-girl meets college-boy experience.
Dear Rockstar is the story of Sara, extreme fangirl of the very famous Tyler Vincent, and Dale Diamond, up-and-coming rockstar who happens to look exactly like the object of Sara's obsessions.
They're immediately drawn to one another and the book tells the story of their romance, Dale's journey towards becoming a fully-fledged rockstar and the secrets and lies each of them is hiding from the other.
I really enjoyed this. The late-80's setting made a nice change, although without the scattered references to George Michael, Rick Astley, MTV etc., I'm not sure I would have picked up on the decade because the characters felt very modern.
The story was good, although a little predictable; I worked out the twist with Tyler Vincent and Dale's parentage quite early on, likewise Sara's abuse (although there was one aspect that did come as a surprise). However, that didn't detract from my enjoyment of the book. I did feel that the 'reveals' were a little rushed and came too quickly, too close together right at the very end of the book with not much discussion or impact on the characters. But that was fine! Sometimes you don't want a story filled with drama and angst.
This was a light, fun read with enjoyable characters and a lovely HEA.
I'd definitely recommend for anyone who enjoys the New Adult genre with a dash of rockstar flair.
I enjoyed the fact that the story didn't revolve around so much what had happened to Sara and why she was at the Academy, it was ever present but not at the forefront at all until we become privvy to it later on. I liked Sara's character and how she quietly carried on with life asking for no sympathy but dealing with what her life was like.
Dale was great, not a bad boy personna but had this magnetism that drew you to him anyway.
So all in all this is a great take on a rockstar read and the title becomes really significant at the end of the book. Really glad I read this and will watch out for more from this author in the future.
