The tome is an easy read despite the emphasis on detail which is a gripping page turner.
Throughly enjoyed this book even though I only have a casual interest in naval history.
There sre some surprising gaps nevertheless. For example, in 1911the Admiralty said it was an ungentlemany weapon. The soviet submarine armed with nuclear warheads posed a real possibility of general nuclear war in the Cuban ctisis of October 1962.
Nevertheless this is an excellent and thtilluk that reveals among other things the history of a formidable weapon. . The life on board can be onerous and very dangerous.
This has been a labour of love for the author. Today nuclear submarines armed with dozens of warheads each many times more powerful than the Nagasaki bomb present a powerful deterrent . Submariners are a special breed of men who endure cramped and potentionally dangerous conditions to protect us.
