Product Description

Amazon Review

Deadly Embraceis another slice off the huge bland loaf of story that is Jackie Collins' stock in trade. Madison Castelli--the streetwise reporter who has featured in five other Collins novels--is taken hostage in a smart LA restaurant by three Russian skinheads who seem to have more plans than is entirely consistent with their gross stupidity. Meanwhile, her half-brother Vincent is on the brink of murderous jealousy in Vegas and her sister Sofia is avoiding rape in Spain; above all, their father Michael is coping with being accused of the murder of his wife and is on the run from the police and his past.

Michael Castelli is the most interesting character here, someone who has drifted in and out of criminality the same way he has drifted in and out of love. Collins writes--not well, but convincingly--about obsession and vindictiveness; she also has some sense of how the sheer business of life makes some people let issues slide for decades at a time. This is a book which preaches the virtues of intelligence and emotional control, yet its story-telling is all over the place--most of the plot issues stop at a place marker rather than coming to any conclusion. Collins can do the glamour of the celebrity culture, but she is worryingly caught up in its emotional vapidity. --Roz Kaveney --This text refers to the Hardcover edition.

well, ive read pretty much ever Jackie Collins book written, as my auntie got me into them! so i know a good Collins book when i read one - this was definatly the best!
it doesnt have the classic 'smut' of her usual books, but the excellently gripping story line makes it fantastic! Madison is one of my favourite collins characters, so finding out about her past is the best thing Jackie could have done.
Dont hesitate - buy this book now!

Madison Catelli. A woman who's world is shattered when she finds out more than she wanted to know about her family's history and enemies. However, the difficult and complicated life her father has lived comes back to haunt her when she herself is taken hostage in a restaurant by armed gunmen.
This book is fantastic to say the least. It's great how the different parts of the plot, past and present, come together as one and how it ends leaving you wanting more.
A great read.

Another great blockbuster from Jackie Collins. This book is well worth the price, a real page turner. The story was before and after sequel to her other blockbuster LETHAL SEDUCTION.
It featured Madison Castelli and her family, how their lives started and how they all ended up.
Right from the start of this book you are hooked and wanting to find out what happens. This is a really raunchy entertaining book just like you would expect from a Jackie Collins novel.
Its a must buy for anyone who likes any of her previous Blockbusters.

This is the 2nd Jackie Collins book I have read. My first was Lovers & Players which I enjoyed. However I took Deadly Embrace on holiday and could not put it down. It was a very good read and would recommend it. It was sad in parts of the book but had a good ending. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it.

When i first started reading the book i thought it was really good as the action started quite quickly. The book followed the usual jackie collins route although some of it seemed a bit more violent than normal. But what really let it down was the rushed ending,it seemed like Jackie was given an amount of pages to write and suddenly realised she had run out of time so hurriedly finished it off. Also Jake a previous character was mentioned with quite an important storyline and then was brushed under the carpet. I am a big Jackie Collins fan and have loved all her books but was very disappointed with this books ending.Hopefully her next effort will be back on track, definatly one of my least favourites of Jackies books.

Classic J.Collins! All the usual type of characters and storylines, more of the same, but as far as I am concerned the usual is great.
it does not tax the brain too much but is a good dose of easy to read escapism, and a bit of glamour. lovely!

This is only the second Jackie Collins book i have read. I read lethal seduction ages ago and bought this one and a few others at the same time but then switched to a totally different genre. Felt like a change so finally got around to reading it. It was really enjoyable and fast paced so got through it in a couple of days.
One of the best things about this book is that it switches from different people's points of view and even different decades constantly so you never get bored (makes the book so hard to put down too). It tells the story of Michael Castelli's past alongside his present and that of his 3 children most notably Madison who is being held at gunpoint. The story is very addictive and comes together really well to explain why all the crazy stuff is happening.

However while i really enjoyed it don't know if i would read it again or not(this is important in my opinion - the difference between earning a spot on my overflowing bookcase or being in the next charity bag!). The best bits were all the shocks and twists so now that i know them all i don't think id enjoy it much second time around.

I can't compare how good this is to other Collins books but i really liked it. Its not really my genre anymore but i still got a kick out of it. Definitely worth a read.
