This book reminded me very much of Alien, but underwater.

Dr Tori Cutter is travelling to the middle of the Atlantic Ocean in response to a plea by a friend, Dr Justin Niles. He is aboard a research facility far beneath the surface, and has found a strange new plant life which he needs her help with.

On arriving Tori meets Lt. John Akers, pilot of the sub which takes her down to Titan, the research facility. They discover that Dr Niles hasn't been heard of for quite some time. They also find out that on arriving back with the plant several members of the team fell ill, power started to drain from Titan's systems, and no one has been down to the lower levels to find out what has gone wrong.

Tori and John make their way to the lower level. On arriving they soon discover the situation is bad, but it gets a lot worse very quickly.

Has the plant caused the illness or is it something else? Can Tori and John find Justin and get him out safely? Why are those who have fallen ill not behaving the way they should?

I loved this story. As I said it reminds me very much of Alien, and several other films I have watched and enjoyed over the years. Just when you think things can't get any worse, they do! I would love to see this turned into a movie in the future. The characters are written well, the suspense keeps building as they go further into the facility, and the ending leads very well to the sequel, which I cannot wait to read!
