I’ve read a few books to do with fire fighters and even though you can tell the authors have done their research, I have to say that the authors own background in the field really makes this story in particular stand out. There were so many new things I learned and it was great to find out how they deal with some of the horrific sights that they get called out to.
Without a doubt Dead Watch would make a great series on the television. I loved the banter and relationship between the characters and they all brought something into the story.
A moment of idiocy brings a whole lot of trouble to the Red Watch door. I think it’s hard to say what anyone of us would have done if we were faced in the same position. Not only do they need to watch out for themselves in their job, but they need to work together like never before outside of Red Watch also.
Dead Watch is an engrossing and thrilling read. It has a great cast of characters of which it is really hard to choose a favourite. Packed full of suspense of what was going to happen next, I really did struggle to put it down. Look forward to more books by the author.
I can relate to Lenny (bless him, I have a feeling the author wrote about me) haha and he got me spot on (apart from never taking anything from any incident).
Great storyline and very rare to involve fire fighters. (Even tho I still classed and called myself as a fireman). Plenty of bent copper stories (fact and fiction).
The fire fighting and procedures are factual and with nearly 20 years of fire fighting, Steve does know what he’s talking about.
He may go into a lot of detail and other fire fighters may think he’s waffling, but to the unknowing, they’ll understand procedures a lot better after they’ve read the explanations.
It’s def a book, from the first line, you’ll want to continue to read.
I’ve read both Steve’s books and so hope to read more in the future.
Dave “Trigger” (Lenny) Sommer.
Lenny would say “it’s a f—-ing good read”
I have to say it's been a long time since a book gripped me so quickly and I was unable to put it down, the story is fast paced and easy to follow. The interaction between the characters is well written and humorous and the story continues on in a way that just makes you want to find out what's going to happen to them.
All in all an excellent book and one I would highly recommend reading
