As a Dead Space fan, I couldn't but feel slightly disappointed while reading this graphic novel. It tells the events of what happened prior to Dead Space 3, with the characters John Carver, Ellie Langford and Robert Norton obviously receiving most of the attention. Here are the issues: there are numerous spelling mistakes, which is just unacceptable for an official Dead Space product. Secondly, the dialogue is quite clichéd and cheesy, making it difficult to care about what is happening with each of the characters. What it does get right though, is the art. It's fantastic in it's own distinctive way, and Dead Space fans WILL be able to appreciate that at the very least. If you really want to know what happens before the third game, then go ahead and buy it. If you're new to the Dead Space franchise, this graphic novel likely won't get you invested.
