Toronto-based punk rock band The Flatliners have announced that they will release their fourth studio album Dead Language on through New Damage Records. Dead Language is the follow-up record to the bands acclaimed 2010 release Cavalcade. Recorded by long-time producer Steve Rizun (The Creepshow, Mean Tangerine), Dead Language is the bands most personal and invigorating record to date. The album features 13 new tracks filled with intelligent songwriting, arena-sized choruses, big guitars and a distinct musical fluidity that comes with playing together as a band for over 10 years. The Flatliners are comprised of Chris Cresswell (vocalist & guitar), Scott Brigham (guitar), Jon Darbey (bass), and Paul Ramirez (drums). Since forming in 2002, the band has released 3 full-lengths LPs, countless 7inches and has toured extensively across North America, Europe and Japan with the likes of Anti-Flag, Cancer Bats, Dropkick Murphys, Nofx, and Less Than Jake.

At first listen you may think that the new album from The Flatliners lacks the heat of their last, but in a few spins you'll realise that Dead Language lacks nothing. The variety of tempo and style demonstrated on Cavalcade is replaced by an assured step towards a more consistent and measured sound, which does cause the album to sag as we approach the climactic closers. Still, Chris's growl has developed into a roar and ensures that none of the tracks feel weak. The album hosts some of the band's best songs to date and I, for one, am relieved.

i love calvacade probably too much and was expecting to feel the same about this album, its really good musically but some of the vocals sound a bit fake, which seemed quite suprising, after the previous releases seemed very honest, but still a very strong album

The first five songs on this CD may be the best stretch of punk rock in the last five years. There are some highlights later in the disc as well. Fast and catchy.
