Romantic comedy horror (or romzomcom) in which a pair of zombies set off on a road trip to find ones long lost love. When Mike (Michael McKiddy) and Brent (Ross Kidder) awake during a catastrophic zombie outbreak the pair have different priorities to those around them. While all the other zombies simply want to consume flesh Mike and Brent somehow appear to have retained hopes and desires from their human days. Mike in particular is driven by the need to track down a lost love and declare his feelings for her and the buddies duly set off on a cross country adventure in search of the girl.

The story opens with Mike, waking up on his own, completely oblivious to the fact that he's died, and is now a zombie.
Enter Brent - guide, new best friend and to be honest, the best looking zombie I ever saw. Brent helps Mike come to terms with being a zombie, and when he learns that Mike was on the verge of propsing to his girlfriend (before he died, that is), takes him on a mission to find his lost love (hence romzomcom).
The pair make a great on-screen duo - and we can't forget Cheese, their intellectually-challenged zombie friend - so trio - and they make for a lot of laughs and an incredibly endearing film. VERY highly recommended. Deadheads 2 anyone? Directors, are you listening?
Two offices that chase them along the way, one who looks like he's escaped from the "Blue Oyster Club".
It's silly in places, funny in others and weird in others.
On the whole watchable.
This is very funny in a ridiculous way. It is mainly about this guy who is killed in a way he struggles to remember. He comes across antother guy who appears to be fine with being a zombie and decides to help his (unimpressed to zombie life)new mate.
It is funny to see someone clearly miffed about being a zombie and refusing to join in with the flesh eating norm. Trying to look like a healthy human,he goes out to find his girlfriend, after a ring in his pocket jogs his memory. He starts remembering moments before his death and the story grows.
This is most unusual and I appreciated the new slant on zombie films,it's got some good gore with it,plenty of laughs and some heart.
But can his girl love a zombie? Now there's a question.
I didn't find it particularly funny, and it seemed at times just a bunch of sketches stitched together (the Vietnam vet. taking his wife's ashes to be scattered, in particular), but I did like the "bar scene" early on and the "Frankenstein's monster"-like character "cheese" (Markus Taylor), who I thought was the best character in it.
The film is okay and silly in a knowing way, and the acting pretty good, but there are any number of smarter/funnier low-budget zombie films out there in my view (e.g. Freaks of Nature, I survived A Zombie Holocaust, Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse, Me and My Mates vs the zombie apocalypse, Deathgasm, Re-kill.........) which I would recommend seeing ahead of this one.
And I do like humour – everything from Fawlty Towers to The Inbetweeners.
I could see moments that were supposed to be funny, but the writers fell short of the mark. It’s like they had an idea of what could be funny, laughed about it to themselves, but just didn’t have the wherewithal to translate what they were laughing it into a screen moment for viewers to share through the dialogue or set pieces.
Unfortunately, there’s not enough action to keep the film interesting while you wait for the next “funny” line, which means you just sit and watch with a dulled sense – you don’t care what’s going to happen and to whom it may happen.
If you’re really, really bored, it might be worth a watch. Or if you’re really, really easily pleased. Otherwise, don’t bother.
But help comes in the unlikely looking Brent Guthrie (Ross Kidder), a fellow sentient Zombie, who suggests that they ought to deliver the ring anyway just to put the record straight. This they decide to do and start their road trip with a great old guy Cliff and an adopted Zombie called `Cheese' who seems to respond to doggy commands rather than the usual human banter. Like all good road trips they only have one rule and this is? No eating humans - typical.
The sub plot comes in an evil drugs company who want them dead or experimented on or both, either way they really need to put some space between each other but it aint gonna be easy as they is some bad bottomed mother fornicator types.
This is a film I thought was going to be trashy and the only saving grace being able to fritter away an hour and a half, and I was way off the mark. It is a genre bender in the talking, thinking Zombie angle, but it really works. They are very aware of their situation and take it with acceptance, humour pathos and lots of cod psychology.Read more ›
