I have always loved Kim Karr’s writing ever since I first read Connected and after reading ‘Dazed’ I’m even more in love with her writing and her ability to grasp you from the first page and have you hooked. Although it’s only a novella and a short read it’s just enough to satisfy you until Kim’s next full book.

‘Dazed’ centres around Dahlia’s best friend Aerie and River’s sexy as sin, model turned actor cousin Jagger. They’re connection is instantaneous and only grows as the book progresses. Unlike Connected, where Aerie exuded confidence, and strong-willed, we see a completely different side to her. We see just how vulnerable she really is, the walls that she has built around her and the need for order in her day to day life.

Enter Jagger, tall, gorgeous, amazing sense of humour..oh and he’s a model...ooh and he speaks French ~sighs~ did I mention he’s a model??.. Anyhoo... from the very first moment he met Aerie he gets her venturing out of her comfort zone, doing things and trying things that she would never normally try. He is a breath of fresh air for her and she finds herself happy and ok with doing them.

Both Jagger and Aerie have experienced heartache in the past, which led them to steering clear of falling in love again. But, these feelings that Aerie has are unlike anything she has ever felt before and that scares her. So Aerie tries to fight the feelings she has towards him, but Jagger will do anything to keep her in his arms and in his life. His attraction to Aerie is so much more powerful than what he has ever felt and he doesn’t want to lose that.

“I feel connected to him in a way I’ve never experienced. And my desire for him soars unlike anything I have ever felt.” ~ Aerie.

This was a great short story. Thoroughly enjoyed aerie and Jagger's romance but found their pasts a little bland. It was also a great way to catchup with river and dahlia, they are Still my favourite book couple ever x

Dazed, A Connections Novella, Kim Karr
Review from Jeannie Zelos Book reviews.
I loved Connected and Torn, the first two with River and Dahlia ( though I hated the fact I didn't know Connected was a part one, with huge cliffhanger when I read it....and that really made me cross) so was eager to read this one.
Its the same easy reading style I’ve come to expect from Kim, and both the characters and the settings feel so real. Though its centred around Jagger and Aerie, it was good to get a catch up of River and Dahlia too. Aerie, she's lovely, very OCD when it comes to her personal life and ways, outfits coordinated and planned ahead, flat always tidy with everything in its allotted place, even down to what food she eats when she's out. She needs control over everything, absolutely everything, or she gets really anxious and panicky – as we get closer to her we can see some of why that is. Then there's Jagger – Rivers cousin. He's Mr Smooth, gorgeous, charmer and a really nice guy, and much more go with the flow carefree, and yet he and Aerie just click, from the first glance there's a searing attraction, and Aerie finds herself doing things she’d never expect. All's going well until...Jagger's ex turns up. Oh I love that kind of conundrum :- )
Its a fun read, decent believable plot, bits of friction and drama – all the elements I love but...it's a novella and they're just too short for me to really get into. If this had been full size I reckon it'd be a five – certainly a 4.5 from me, but somehow I find novellas are over just as they're getting interesting. Still, I’m a quick reader and not everyone is, so there' s a huge market for these shorter books. If that’s your choice then you'll probably go with my “longer” hypothetical rating...

I gave Dazed 3.5 Stars

"I let go and let him in-and he showed me how"

Dazed is the story of Dahlia's best friend Aerie and River's cousin Jagger. I loved their very first meeting; I was excited for their story and the scenes to come, just by the introduction and opening chemistry alone. Jagger seemed like a confident, carefree guy and one that could teach Aerie to live a little more freely.

I have only read book one in the Connections series and I agree this book can be read as a standalone, however, I think to engage with Aerie more, books one and two would set up the background. I got to see a different side to Aerie, her past and family history dictated her strict, controlled life. Aerie is a planner and needs to know every possible outcome before jumping in feet first. When she meets Jagger, he challenges her need for control and Aerie discovers a more fun side to life by just living in the moment. But all that is threatened when a situation catapults Aerie back to the past and her insecurities rise again.

The storyline was pretty much drama free, the main issue was resolved quite quickly so it made for a sweet read. I liked the courtship between Jagger and Aerie and I thought the sub-plot about her uncle's life was interesting. I got to see a vulnerable side to Aerie during this time. Kim Karr's writing is easy to read and as always, I love the connection to music in her books. I didn't connect to Aerie and Jagger as much as I did Dahlia and River but perhaps that was due to this being a novella and if given more of them I could see myself loving them fully.

This was a sexy novella, and the build up between Aerie and Jagger was worth the wait. The scenes were hot between the two and Jagger brought Aerie out of her shell.
