This is a fun mix of fantasy and crime story, and it executes both genres well. The story is fast-paced and the characters are engaging and believable (assuming you're willing to believe in magic....)

I found out about this Author from a friend and had just finished setting up my android table to be able to read most of the E-Book formats and the author was pushing this for free so i down loaded it as a test file. Best move I made, the story flows well and the author has a strong grasp of writing dialogue and even in something as short as this he starts to build a believable world where magic exists in with more modern items like the Fedora on the cover. Hopefully the author will continue this series as I would like to see where he was going with the story lines he started.

HASH(0x9da7b024) out of 5 stars interesting with great twists 8 Aug. 2013

This was a very fast read (no wonder since it's rather short and very fast paced). It was so good, I went out right away to get the sequels and ended up buying the whole omnibus.

The book tells the story of a newbie police officer with special abilities and his friend. A mini-bonus story tells us, how he came to the police in the first place. This is a little like the good old noir mysteries but with lots of fantasy thrown in.

Highly recommended to everyone who likes fantasy AND mysteries.
