Fitness programme hosted by TV presenter Davina McCall. The workout can be tailored to suit the user's needs with three different routines that tackle problem areas as well as cardio and toning exercises and a 15-minute routine focusing entirely on the abdomen.
This is my first experience with Davina and after having done the dvd twice I quite like it and look forward to doing it again (and again). It has all you need and goes through the whole body. I particularly like that weights are used for the toning parts and that they don't waste too much time explaining, but get right into it. It is sufficiently instructed and easy enough to follow anyway.
Being used to for example the "10 minute"-dvs, where you from the start combine which parts you want to do, I was a little disappointed and confused with this structure to start with. But now I find it very good. It is better to have warm up and cool down separated, and it reminds you not to skip these bits as is easy if in a hurry. On the other hand, if not in a hurry you can add small targeted parts, for arms, shoulders and bum. These extras are very good.
I like the possibility to do a short stretch of 5 minutes or a longer of 20 minutes. The longer one is yoga influences, which I like. I think, that if you were in very bad shape you would benefit from only doing the warm up and the cool down parts for a while.
I am usually in fairly good form, working out to dvds at home 3-4 days a week. However, the last year has been very difficult and I haven't done any exercise and put on 5 kg and feel very tired all the time with no strenght. If I was in my better shape I would probably have thought there was too little or too low intense cardio, but for now I think this is great. I follow Jackie most of the time, so there is something to build up to, which is great. You can put on wrist weights to make it harder if needed.
On the dvd (school part) it says that you will see a change in 30 days and have a new body in 3 months if you do the dvd 3 times a week. I will now give it a try for one month. I thought I would then come back and inform what results I noticed. Usually I have difficulty sticking to the same dvd as I want variation, so it will be interesting to see what I feel about hearing Davina's small remarks/jokes after four weeks:) My plan is to do fabulous fat burner together with bingo wings, summer shoulders and bikini bum every second time and brilliant boot camp together with target abs every second time, and always warm up and cool down/stretch. Only that will cater for some variation!
I had difficulties deciding if I would give four or five stars, and decided for four, even if this is very good, as I have done other - for me - more fun work out dvds. If I see great results in four weeks, I might upgrade:-)
I am mum of 2 very young children, so the option of going to the gym is out of the question. This dvd is great because I do it when the children are asleap, in the evening. Also, my husband has supported me by doing the fat burner workout with me, and he also has lost weight.
The DVD loses one star from me because the boot camp, and other workouts with Mark are hard to follow, without structure and lack of instruction. Mark is spot on but he should stick to personal training.
