About the Author

With more than a million books in print, David D. Busch is the world's #1 selling digital camera guide author, and the originator of popular digital photography series like David Busch's Pro Secrets and David Busch's Quick Snap Guides. He has written more than a dozen hugely successful guidebooks for Canon and Canon digital SLR models, as well as many popular books devoted to dSLRs, including Mastering Digital SLR Photography, Second Edition, and Digital SLR Pro Secrets. As a roving photojournalist for more than twenty years, he illustrated his books, magazine articles, and newspaper reports with award-winning images. He's operated his own commercial studio, suffocated in formal dress while shooting weddings-for-hire, and shot sports for a daily newspaper and upstate New York college. His photos and articles have appeared in Popular Photography & Imaging, The Rangefinder, The Professional Photographer, and hundreds of other publications. He has also reviewed dozens of digital cameras for CNet and Computer Shopper, and his advice has been featured in National Public Radio's "All Tech Considered." When About.com named its top five books on Beginning Digital Photography, debuting at the #1 and #2 slots were Busch's Digital Photography All-In-One Desk Reference for Dummies and Mastering Digital Photography. During the past year, he's had as many as five of his books listed in the Top 20 of Amazon.com's Digital Photography Bestseller list-simultaneously! Busch's 120-plus other books published since 1983 include bestsellers like David Busch's Quick Snap Guide to Digital SLR Lenses. Visit his website at http://www.dslrguides.com.

Usually find David Busch quite informative and in this book also though one gets the impression he has sold out on occasions when he fails to point out one or two diabolical lenses in the Sony itinerary as well as several overrated and expensive options. I love this camera but you have to search out which lens is best. Try the Sony 10-18 wide angle zoom is my advice.

These days when a new camera comes out there is normally a host of publications to support it in the months following its release. Most major manufacturers seem to skimp on manuals as well, so I guess many of us look to these publications to fill the gap.

Having bought many guides in the past (and sometimes being disappointed) I knew it was worth waiting for the David Busch guide. I have several of his books, and his writing style makes for easy reading. The technical aspects of the camera are well explained, but there is a lot of creative advice which really helps you make the most of this complex camera.

I think most keen photographers are probably aware of the settings and functions of their camera, but it's good to have everything wrapped up in a well produced publication, which is a great reference to keep on your bookshelf, and much more fun than a manufacturers web page.

All in all, I'm very happy with this guide - just wish it had come out sooner!

It took about a year for this book to get published. The Sony A6000 is a great camera and while it's easy to use as a point and shoot, it has a wealth of features just waiting to be utilized. The 'manual' supplied with the camera is a joke! Sony consistently do this, produce great cameras with features you can't use because their buried in the menus. This book is a necessity and is well written. It does go over the basics of aperture and speed etc but it also has sections relating specifically to this camera. The big downside is that Mr Busch hasn't include enough info abouut third party lenses and other equipment such as flashes that can be used with this. No mention of the Yonnuo off camera flash triggers which I have or all the Sigma art lenses...to name but a few omissions.

Own a Alpha 6000? You NEED this!
The included manual in the box with your shiny new 6000 is woefully inadequate. Invest a few quid in this book, and learn from someone who knows the camera inside & out - intimately!

Got the book, got the camera, next week actually get to put it into practice! - looking forward to giving the camera a workout. I really thing this is the kind of book should be sold as a package with the camera.

Great book about the workings of the camera, which is very complicated when you first start. Easy to follow and well laid out. If you want to explore the potential of this amazing camera you would do well to spend this small amount extra, as it will definitely save you a lot of time trying to find out for yourself. I had hoped it would have a little more on actual techniques though, but still a good purchase.
