About the Author

With more than a million books in print, David D. Busch is the world's #1 selling digital camera guide author, and the originator of popular digital photography series like David Busch's Pro Secrets and David Busch's Quick Snap Guides. He has written more than a dozen hugely successful guidebooks for Canon and Canon digital SLR models, as well as many popular books devoted to dSLRs, including Mastering Digital SLR Photography, Second Edition, and Digital SLR Pro Secrets. As a roving photojournalist for more than twenty years, he illustrated his books, magazine articles, and newspaper reports with award-winning images. He's operated his own commercial studio, suffocated in formal dress while shooting weddings-for-hire, and shot sports for a daily newspaper and upstate New York college. His photos and articles have appeared in Popular Photography & Imaging, The Rangefinder, The Professional Photographer, and hundreds of other publications. He has also reviewed dozens of digital cameras for CNet and Computer Shopper, and his advice has been featured in National Public Radio's "All Tech Considered." When About.com named its top five books on Beginning Digital Photography, debuting at the #1 and #2 slots were Busch's Digital Photography All-In-One Desk Reference for Dummies and Mastering Digital Photography. During the past year, he's had as many as five of his books listed in the Top 20 of Amazon.com's Digital Photography Bestseller list-simultaneously! Busch's 120-plus other books published since 1983 include bestsellers like David Busch's Quick Snap Guide to Digital SLR Lenses. Visit his website at http://www.dslrguides.com.

Wow, i have learnt so much from this book i didn't even know about(bokeh?). I'm still working my way through it but its great to dip in and out of as well when i need reminding of the camera's many functions. So far, very easy to follow with good colour diagrams and picture examples. Lots in it, over 450 pages so not a pocket guide but it's a very comprehensive guide to a very good camera and should help you understand why sometimes the camera doesn't want to take pics (auto-focusing for example, see chapter 5, very interesting). This camera is my first trip back to SLR's for over twenty years as i've been using point and shoots so found this guide great to get me up to speed with this new tech.

Very helpful book giving info about 660D camera system in a much more digestable form than the manual that comes with the camera. On top of this comes much more to help beginner and enthusiastic amateur get more from the system than they can from reading the basic manual alone. Demystifying the art of sensor cleaning alone will save you pounds! Excellent chapters on the various lenses, speedlites etc all serve to whet one's appetite. Amazon's typical excellent delivery time came as expected. All round well pleased.

I bought my Canon EOS600D recently and, because I'm new to using a DSLR, didn't find the manual very useful, but this book really helped me find my way round the camera and de-mystified a lot of the terminology. It's written by an American, with the attendant differences in style and language, and the quoted prices are in US dollars, but that apart, it helps you get to grips with all the buttons and menus and tells you how to process images in PhotoShop (which would be great if you owned it!) The fact that all the information is specific to the camera is also helpful. It guides you through basic operation (exposure, shutter speed, focus techniques and using flash), customising the menus and choosing lenses. If you want information about using filters and special effects, this is not the book for you.

Had bought a version of this book for my Panasonic GF1. Although the user manual for my 600D is quite good the book can give you that much more information and is far easier to use. A very good buy.

Really good book for finding your way around the 600D. Its well written and has proved very useful indeed.
Can be read cover to cover or dipped in and out of as needed.
Would thoroughly recommend for anyone wanting to get more from their camera.
